I've been reading and searching a lot about this. I've read about Wedge's endeavor with these elements.
I just had a few questions that wasn't really addressed in detail in my search. Ok first of all, I have an 01' 2.5 RS (which i believe has PhaseII Sohc heads). Now in my readings from the legacycentral library and stuff here... The EJ25 Heads aren't exactly 'bolt-ons' to the ej22t shortblock. The parts must be machined to fit. The ej25 head openings are significantly bigger than the openings to the ej22t shortblock, so there is a little discrepancy in fitment. I just wanted to verify this with the ppl on this board if that were true or not. (Also, some valve angle job must be performed to fit correctly.) Second of all, I've ready that wedge's setup consisted of his 2.5rs, a turbo kit (for the 2.5rs), and the ej22t shortblock. Now I find it very enticing to follow this route, seeing as how the ej22t basically takes care of the 2.5rs's inability to withstand boost for a prolonged period of time. I think he said he was using his stock ECU (2.5rs ecu) with LinkPlus for this setup. I was wondering if it was exactly THAT simple... I mean i can understand u'd have to buy a stronger fuel pump, new oil pan, (but those come w/the turbo kit). Third, I am further drawn to this method because looking at the cost of the turbo kit (~$4500-5000) and finding a used ej22t shortblock (~$500), the results would be similar if not better then a wrx engine swap for relatively the same amount of $. Since the stock ecu would be used, would that mean there'd be less electrical (wiring) and simply all mechanical work? Speaking of electrical, would there be any reason to tamper with the OBDII wiring? I don't think there would be a reason to since it would only be the shortblock being replaced. **edit: Ugh sorry, I've only been searching in the conversion threads... haven't touched the aftermarket turbo threads yet. thanks for all the replies though.

Umm goto my brothers (Wedge) webpage... http://imprezav5.info , the EJ22t shortblock is a bolt on to the EJ25 heads. And yes he is using the Link Plus which is a stand alone. The stock ecu went bye bye.
