Default Wheel alignment in Calgary

Heeeeey boys & girls,

Well, it's time to do an alignment on the car, and I was wondering what place you would recommend. Any suggestions? Also what kind of price am I looking at? Never done this on the car before (did I say it was time?! )

Thanks in advance.

The guys at Tunerworks said that Alvin Automotive (243-3941) has a pretty fancy wheel alignment machine.

Don't quote me but I think a wheel alignment costs around $70.

Hey Okeo, how come we didn't see you at the meet?

I've been to Alvin Automotive, and it was about $70-75 for an alignment. I didn't get the alignment to the exact specs I had asked for, but I think that was more of a limitation of the suspension itself. I also saw one of the employees there attempting to drive my car. He attempted to put it into first a couple of times while the car was in motion. There was a good bit of grindage. Not completely his fault since that isn't really a universal problem with transmissions. Regardless, I wasn't pleased to see that happen. I really don't know whether to recommend them or not, but for my next alignment I'd probably still go back. If someone could recommend another shop though, I'd be all for trying that first.

RayQuon: So Alvin was not a happy experience? Hmmm, I wonder if they're good enough for the wife's car

Anyone else has any suggestion?

J: As far as the meet is concerned: Well.. Things got in the way. I had forgotten we had stuff planned for that day. I saw that it was not a bad turnout (for Calgary, at least, hehe) so too bad for me... I did see an STI with a roof rack parked in the visitors parking later that day, however...

Alvin was not a happy experience, but the issues I complain about would have probably occurred regardless of who I went to. I was just trying my luck with the camber settings I asked for and was prepared for issues. The grinding into first thing is more the car's fault with the subaru 5-speed's reluctance to enter first while moving. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they are a competent shop, but I don't have much reason to actually recommend anyone to go there.
