I'm only running stage one, but NEVER hit close to target in first or second either for that matter. I start getting close to target in third, then hit it in fourth... fwiw.

I dont think you suppose to hit target boost in first!! just not enought time and load!
but you're lucky I don't even hit target boost in 5th! |

WRexxer is right - you'll never see target boost in 1&2 and rarely in 3 - there simply isn't enough engine load to produce that kind of boost. It sounds like by 4th you're doing O.K. - target boost for STG 2 is 16psi +- .5.

HWG is a wastegate thing designed to remedy what the ecu has learned from people running MBC's. No need to run it.

I don't use it so make sure you do some more research on that HWG.

thanks for the help! is there any way to get full boost in 1 thru 3 cause those are the gears you use more often.. for drag, street, ect.......
hopefully my frontmount might help a bit in the cooling of the whole deal(the factory topmont sucks) |

HWG is if you are not hitting target boost in 3rd gear or so. You will never hit target boost in the lower gears since they go by so fast.
You can try the HWG map, however, I'd watch the boost gauge closely since you might experience spiking or overboosting if the wastegate duty cycle is too high. Mike |

Just an FYI guys... remember what "boost" is... an excess of air not being used by the engine.
Just because it's not collecting in the lower gears, doesn't mean it's not being USED in the lower gears. A motor is just a big air pump, the more that goes into and out of it, the more power you make. So what you guys really should be doing is looking at MAF values, since that is a much more realistic indicator of power. I.E. My car only makes about 15 PSI at the end of 1st gear, but makes 360 WHP in the process.... Jorge (RiftsWRX) www.ProjectWRX.com |
