Unless you're saying that all '08 Forester Sports will have the STI components? Well then, why didn't they just call it a Forester tuned by STI?
I didn't check to see if it had any STI springs, suspension bits, seats, guages, Brembo brakes, etc. I don't recall seeing an STI muffler or seats.

The 08 Forrester Sports does have some pseudo STi bits including the lip, spoiler, 17" replica sti wheels (17" versions of the 18s that like the legacy tuned by gets, not sure what other sti model they were actually used on) And also blacked out (sti) head/tail lamps.
It's pretty slick looking, but they shoulda tossed on the sti pink springs on it as well to complete the package outa the box. |

Right, so it's the '08 Forester Sports. They're STi parts, basically. That's just how the car comes.

Sorry, but the Forester is being redesigned for 2009... That 2008 Forester Sport XT is as close as we are going to get to the Forester STI.

Did they make a Forester Sport for '07? If so, that must be what I'm thinking of. |

Nevermind. I went to Subaru's website. It's just the difference between the Forester Sports X and XT.
Is it truly "Sports"? Because on the grille, I'm sure it didn't have the trailing 's' (i.e.: "Sport"). |

I know this isn't breaking news, but my dealer told me that the new STI will "definitely be at least 320 hp". Seemed like a statement that strong was post worthy.

Our dealer in Portland Oregon was generally clueless about HP numbers or even estimated delivery schedule (ok so the salesman was new).
Finally got the skinny from his manager to expect the 08 STI to be on lots in Jan. I test drove the WRX (5 door) but disclosed that I was waiting for the STI. After the sales guy realized it was futile to continue the hard sell on the WRX, he switched to the 2 07 STIs on the lot. They said that they are actually receiving rebates from Subaru on the 07 STIs to get them sold, but I didn't inquire much re: amounts since I wasn't interested. |

should have asked what his best price was...if the 08 STi comes out and it isn't what you expected, your going to be kicking yourself that you didn't drive a bargain on an 07.

There's no rebate on 07 STIs lol... in fact... the pipeline on 07's will be drying up as they have all been produced and what's on the ground is pretty much what's left. There are a handful that will be used for sold orders.

Yeah - I should have pressed him for details on the 07 rebates. He's wanting me to go for a spin in the 07, so I might take him up on it if for nothing else, to compare models (have never driven an STI before).
They currently have 2 on the lot, and are pushing the story about them being worth $$ if the 08s are not popular. I got the feeling they were nervous and anxious to unload them. |

I would have to agree with the dealer on this one beause even though the performance might not be as good on the 07's as the 08's, the 08's are an ugly design, plus I don't know how they will pull of an STi sedan with that hideous saturn frame.
If I had the extra $ laying around, I would run to a stealership and buy an 07 STi.. Personal preference though once again..you might LIKE that new model, I dont know.. |

I know they are going to make a hatchback 5 door (yes I have been paying attention). I was saying that in regard if they were gonna TRY and make a sedan version for 08; I guess its a 99% no at this point.

If there's enough demand, they might make one. Nobody knows right now.

don't know if this has been posted before......
Most of this is 2nd hand information but here it goes... I heard from a friend who sells Subarus that the STi will come in a "base" model, a limited, and a limited with navigation. The interior carpet this time will be black or grey, as well as the inserts in the doors. However, he did say the seats will remain with the blue and black color scheme. The guy he got this information from is a Subaru exec who has actually driven the mule we've all seen before. My friend also mentioned that the horsepower figure isn't set in stone. According to this Subaru exec, they are awaiting Mitsubishi's horsepower rating before releasing their own. He said that they are aiming for 15 horsepower over what the Evolution has. On a side note the Subaru exec mentioned that the mule he drove had close to 400 horsepower and was "nasty". However, he mentioned that the STi will probably not make that much power in the production form. I think this is pretty credible info because my friend had early info on the new WRX that turned out to be correct...enjoy! Last edited by jo151; 08-23-2007 at 01:35 AM. |
