For current shape ?? I don't think so, the sedan looks ugly but for 2011 or 2012? maybe

Maybe Subaru should take the whole impreza line back to the drawing board. Current looks dont do the platform justice. The car is meant to look pissed off, aggressive. Not "hey im picking up the kids up from school and going to the store" look.

Why does the option of the sedan offend you? They aren't killing the hatch, just offering both.

Are you buying one?

+1 on the idea...like the sedan, with a little bit more fender...

Too bad the vast majority of people disagree with you on the looks of the new one.

And don't take my word for it, go look at the sales numbers of the impreza over the years, 2008 stands as a great one for the impreza overall.

Yeah but it's a Corolla that Toyota fans would kill to get if it were one. I finally saw an Impreza sedan on the road the other day and it didn't look bad. I don't see any problem with bringing an STI sedan at all. It will be interesting to see what they do with the rear fenders. Some big bulges to go along with the STI front fenders might actually look good.

It doesn't look bad but it also doesn't stand out. There is nothing about it that says "Impreza" or "Subaru." Without the badges it could be any generic small car.

I think there is a good chance that an STI Sedan will be sold...

1) No more WRC therefore they don't need to keep the hatch version around for the rules.
2) WRX Sedan is sold outside of the US now
3) STI Hatch sales were bad, hence the $7k discount + 0% APR for 63 months.
4) Mitsubishi Evo is a sedan, and Hatch version of at least the Ralliart is coming.

That silver show car isn't bad.

But I would SO buy a Tuned by STI BL Legacy, or S402 (provided I could afford and S402) if they were offered here. SOJ built them. SOA didn't. Nobody builds a sedan impreza above WRX level, officially.

Personally, I think they should ditch the Impreza 4-door, in favor of an AWD variant of the upcoming Subaru/Toyota coupe across the whole impreza line, 2.0 220hp NA, 2.5T, and 2.5 T STI level in a sleek 3-door coupe. I never understood the redundance of the 4-door Impreza/WRX with the Legacy 2.5i and 2.5GT. The Legacy is a nicer car, both looks and interior, and not that much more expensive, model for model.

Leave the 4-door bodystyle to the Legacy 2.5i, 2.5GT, and 3.6 H6.

Snow drift - good points, but I believe Mitsu is not bringing any 09 X's here and still has many 08's left on their lot. Either way, the market is rough. However, there are some incredible looking 08-09 STI's out there - but of course they were done up by the owners - thats what SOA expected the enthusiasts to do anyway. Who knows what 2010 will bring, they always keep us on our toes!!

Looks pretty nice although I do not care for the rounded design of the rear quarter panel. Next thing they will do is add the automatic and paddle shift to it and we are doomed. Only old heads will be buying it.

considering that subaru changes the looks every 2 years, its possible... however the hatch is here to stay for a while. They won't re-tool the plants this soon. I'd be surprised if the STi went to a sedan only. With the current softening of the STi, I wouldn't be surprised to see STi get tacked on to things and after a few years, hardly mean anything anymore.

That's a very subjective thing, not everyone agrees.

Given a choice between the current STI Hatch and an Evo X sedan, I'd go for the Evo, I would not need any time to think or consider, that's my preference. I have an 07 STI, and I have no interest in "upgrading" to the hatch. I waited to see what the 2008 STI was going to be before I bought my 07, and I'm very happy I could still get one. I really didn't care for the hatch. It looks boring to me, and I love how sporty I think my 07 is.

So for the STI sedan you put the front fenders from the current 5-door STI on it and then add some bulgy rear fenders and suddenly it's an econobox with attitude. You remember, sort of like a GC8 compared to an L model difference.

I would love an STI sedan simply because the STI wagon looks so much better than the WRX.
For the price I would take a 370Z with sports package any day instead of the STI though.
