One sales person at the dealership I bought my STI from had no idea how to put the tranny in reverse, or set the rev limiter.
I put little faith in anything a dealer says.

When I had my mazdaspeed 3 I took it there to get the transmission oil changed out. And the tech told me that the car didnt have a tranny oil and was really confused at what I was asking them to do. Later that day, I bought some Redline MT90 and change it myself lol. He kept saying that other than brake fluid nothing could be changed.
I also had a sales guy at the local Mitsubishi dealership try and tell me that the new Evo X was twin turbo. He swore on it.. and kept saying..."dude I sell these cars so I think I would know". I then had to tell him its a twin scroll turbo that was in the car and he still refused to believe me. |

Doubt you talked to a tech, you typically never talk to techs, only service advisors when you set up service. His limited car knowledge probably thought you were talking about clutch fluid. Either way, he didn't know his job. |

Just had my WRX in the 45K service. While there I was talking to my sales rep, and he said they expect few if any Impreza or Forester deliveries in May or June, thanks to the earthquake. Also, who knows how the quake might affect the '12 Impreza launch.

I would buy the 2011 before the new style unless there is a substantial power upgrade.

In talking with my sales rep yesterday, he indicated that the production mix between the new coupe would be heavily biased towards Scion, with that brand getting maybe 75% of the cars. He didn't expect his dealer to carry many on the lot, and he works at a large DC metro dealer.

I am not trying to turn this into a debate again, but I just don't understand why Toyota can't just keep them all since Subaru will obviously be getting a substantial cut of the profits anyway as the designer and provider of the whole drivetrain. That way, Subaru can keep their DNA intact while still making some profit off of the Toyota version. Keep in mind it is likely the Toyota version will vastly outsell the Subie version anyway so it may not make sense to even try to get into the whole sibling rivalry between these vehicles. SOA Blog, have any insight into this?

Have any US dealers seen the 2012 Impreza yet? If so, would it be fair to say that somethings dealers say might be said are true, while others are talking a bunch of crap?

![]() I for one, am excited about this coupe. I would think that even if they offer a fairly subtle engine option for the initial release, you know that a WRX or STI equivalent powered version has to come out at some point. And for many Subaru lovers that wanted something different, and either already left the brand, or are close to it, they will most likely embrace a car like this. RWD, coupe, turbo, manual gear box, lightweight, Subaru reliability - I would jump all over one of these. Last edited by JM530; 04-09-2011 at 11:57 AM. |

One dealer told me today that they were doing no custom orders on the WRX for the foreseeable future. America will only receive what Japan sends them, which may be nothing for 3 months or longer.

![]() While I was there the National Subie rep was at my dealership and seemed confident that all would return to normal soon. I'm expecting my car late June or July. We shall see I guess. Keepcalm, this too is interesting. Looks like I need to call my dealer and double check that my order went through..... cars101.com: Quote: 4/11 Factory orders end for 2011s- Factory orders are no longer accepted for any 2011 vehicle. This is normal as 2011 model production winds down and starts the shift to 2012, and also to better manage limited parts and resources after the March 11 earthquake. In late March, some lower volume Outback and Legacy models had been already removed from the order list- manual transmissions, 3.6Rs, uncommon Option Packages.
