maybe you put your order in before they stopped taking them? Does anybody know yet what or if changes are going to be made to the 2012 WRX's?

4/11 Factory orders end for 2011s-
Factory orders are no longer accepted for any 2011 vehicle. This is normal as 2011 model production winds down and starts the shift to 2012, and also to better manage limited parts and resources after the March 11 earthquake. In late March, some lower volume Outback and Legacy models had been already removed from the order list- manual transmissions, 3.6Rs, uncommon Option Packages.
The date factory orders ended appears to be 4/11. You ordered on 4/5, so I think you'll be fine. Probably not a bad idea to confirm with your dealer anyway, though... if nothing else it's peace of mind for you. If for some reason they weren't able to order your car in time, make them get it from another dealership. You can also check inventory yourself through subaru.com, though it's a bit tedious.

Looks like my order made it in. My dealer rep says it is in the system and until they hear otherwise I'm fine. I guess I'm good.

2 dealerships told me while searching for a 2011 wrx that there will be absolutely no changes in the platform for 2012... I ended up finding and buying a 2011... just incase..

This one's a classic. I lived in Davenport, IA for a while, about 10 years ago. Well, I had this weird flapping noise coming from my heater fan. I brought it in, and they told me that they'd have to take apart the dashboard, inspect it, and then do the repairs. The labor estimate was several hours.

I wasn't about to do that. So then I emailed North Ursalia, who suggested that I grab a Philips screwdriver, and remove the fan......... in which I found some dried leaves.

Wow. I wasn't super familiar with the car by that point, so I wasn't aware it was so easy to reach. Yep that was a fun one.

Subaru Stars My dealer told me

I asked my dealer (parts department) if it was possible to purchase the STI seats and put them in my 2009 Impreza GT?

Once I finally convinced him the 2009 Impreza GT indeed existed was told there was no way to buy the STI seats in whole. My only option would be to buy the individual parts (well over 1,000 parts), and piece them together myself.

Service Manager told me my best bet might be to find them in a junk yard.

I can't imagine either of these is accurate. But not having much luck finding STI or similar Recarro seats for my 2009 Impreza GT.

When I purchased mine, I wanted the STI but don't want to drive a manual back and forth to work in rush hour traffic every day. When I was shopping for my car the sales person, GM of the dealership & someone looking at the STI on the showroom floor all told me I shouldn't even ask that quetion that an automatic STI will never take in the USA and essentially is an awful idea. Do hope these three individuals are wrong and I'm not alone in wanting to see Subaru offer an automatic STI in the near future.

Recaros are going to be a tall order in the US. They don't have side airbags or aren't rated for them, in terms of safety crash testing... and they don't have the seatbelt weight sensors in them.

USDM STI seats are not recaros for those reasons.

The three options for STI seats would be buying a tuner's take-offs, when they replace the stock seats with racing seats...

Junk-yard seats... but those are probably very rare to have them at all, let alone intact.

Subaru parts counter for retail replacements... and you are going to pay through the nose.

The other option would be to widen your search to sport seats from a BL Legacy GT non-limited, or other cloth-interior Subaru with decent seats... or OE Subaru Leather seats.

WRX STI Spec.A is a long-shot to ever be offered in the US.

If I may suggest something... you may want to look for a used BL Legacy GT. 2005-2009, or Outback XT. Those are the easiest way to get a turbo EJ25 with a good automatic gearbox.

Otherwise you are looking at Impreza GT or Forester XT, with only 230hp, and the 4EAT, rather than the Legacy/Outback 5EAT, which the JDM STI Spec.A also used.

Frankly, I am wishing for the other direction. I wish I could find an EZ30R or EZ36 engine with a Spec.B or STI 6-speed manual with VTD AWD. They REALLY didn't build that in the US, on any of their cars, but the overseas 3.0R Spec.B Legacy did. Here, it is either 2.5 GT Spec.B or WRX STI, with the turbo 4, or the Legacy 3.0R Limited with the 5EAT only. Either way, it is either an engine/ECU swap, or a transaxle/clutch/driveshaft/shifter swap.

News for 2012 WRX and STi:

I've been calling my dealer pretty much weekly asking for info on when I can order one of these and weeks ago they said September was a firm window for ordering. Got some misinfo this weekend saying I could order right now, but when I went in I was told November/December for ordering! HOWEVER, the guy seemed really uninformed in general as he Immediatly agreed with me when I mentioned the September thing, qualifying it with "Sometime between September and December we can order one for you.". Whatever. They still have no info about any possible tweaks to the car versus the 2011 models.

The important news is this:

They called me when I left to tell me Subaru is honoring all their promised numbers for WRXs and STis to dealerships (meaning they are still making 2011s ATM but not to order) and that for a deposit, my dealership can put in a request for the color/model I want, and trade one of their allocated cars for it and get it to me ASAP. They also said I had 48 hours to do this or I'd miss the opportunity. I'm posting this both to inform others on the market about this possible chance at getting their cars sooner, but also in the hopes that a dealer rep or someone like that can verify that this scenario is even possible. I have little trust in my local dealerships as the sales people seem to all be a bit ignorant about details on these cars.

Only 48hr to make your mind? Sounds like dealer wants make an advance sale, rather than an actual deadline.

Yeah sounds the same to me. I mean I want the car. If I could order it now and not have it arrive until next February, that'd be fine, I just want accrete info is all. I've never heard of a setup like the one he's suggesting though, so I'm not sure what it means exactly.

That's the first actual date I've heard. Keep hearing rumblings about a September order window, with a November delivery timeframe for the WRX/STi, and a month or two later for the impreza. What dealer are you talking to btw?

Carlsen Subaru in Redwood City, CA. He claims he will do $500 below invoice.

I'm currently car shopping for my first new car. Anyways my local dealer said that the 2012 WRX's won't be available until sometime in April and that they would be based off of the new Impreza and cost 5% more. I corrected him thanks to this forum. It was kind of funny watching him flip through all his files trying to find where he supposedly read that.

Hahaha wow that is just special. Never could understand how someone who works in a dealership all day everyday with access to the most current info and sources can be so far off base when it comes to information about new products.

This is my first time posting something here so hi everyone. My dealership told me that the 2012 WRX / STI will be available in october and there will be no changes . The mecanic who works on my car told me that there's rumors about the new version of the WRX / STI that could be offered in a coupe form and will be available in March 2012. They will offer the RWD or all wheel drive. So I'm looking forward for that.

This is true. I was barely able to get a 5 door rerouted to my store from another. We cannot change the colors but we can change the accessory packages.
I was so close to the dealine I was unable to change the accessories on the car.
So this plan is now done. We will have to wait for our next allocation to do something like this.

Default Delivery Delay

I placed a deposit on a WRX that was supposed to arrive to a Minnesota Dealership on September 7th. I was just told by the salesmen that there is a delay with more than 200 cars company wide with Subaru, one of those being the WRX I wanted.

The new estimated arrival is September 28th or sooner.

Does anyone have anymore information about this? Has anyone else heard this from a dealership?
