Hi, i was wondering if anybody out there is running 225-50-16's on there stock wrx wheels. I wanted to know if it will rub or does it make any diffrence in running in my 205-55-16. i am currently using them for street driving and going through traffic, but i do love to make those sharp turns. any help will be greatly appreciated. P.S. also if anybody happens to know what the stck sway bar sizes are on a 04 wrx, and what size will be a good upgrade for steet driving. thanks

next time try searching...
225's are fine on wrx rims, as long as you have a sedan. Stock sways are 17mm on both ends...good upgrade size is anything over 20mm though an adjustable higher rated(20-26) sway bar is obviously even better. I would be skeptical about buying a super stiff non-adj. sway bar and running it all year round. Then again I live in snow country... |

I had some 225 Goodyear Eagle F1 GS/D3's on my wagon with no rubbing issues whatsoever. The only drawback is the mushy feeling (no feedback) when entering corners because the tires are too fat for the wheel. Seriously, the added grip was good but the reduced steering feel and feedback was dissapointing. The addition of a whiteline adjustable swaybar helped alot. Then adding a set of Rota's that are an inch wider and taller really made a set of 225 tires work perfectly. (17 X 7.5) Add some Eibach springs and the car will be totally transformed into a grin making machine in the twisties.
I know that this all takes money, which most of us just don't have on tap, but I would really advise that you just save up for some Rota's with some Kuhmo MX's... totally awesome for the money. I know the feeling you are going through, those stock tires piss us all off. |

The only 225 to rub on a WRX on stock wheels that I have heard of is the Hoosier RS304's on an 04 wagon. And even then it was just enough to clean the dust off of the strut.
