Quick Question about 05 A/F Gauge
Where can I connect the signal wire on an 05'...??
Same as 04'?...signal wire? If so which one there is two of them. I personally would prefer to hook it straight to the O2 sensor (black, blue or white wires). Dave

It's the same deal as the earlier year WRX's and STi's. The tap-in type gauges are only able to connect to the rear 02 sensor and as such are essentially useless for real A/F readings.
Whatever you do, do NOT attempt to connect anything to the front 02 sensor or you will seriously screw up your car and it will run very badly. |

This is not entirely true...as I have it currently tapped into the front O2 at the "Signal 1" wire. And it runs fine....BUT, I don't think I am getting correct readings....not sure because the gauge seams to work but doesn't bounce around hardly at all, as it should. Dave |

Please disconnect it from the front 02, ASAP. The car may seem to run ok but the tap is going to affect the readings from the sensor to the ECU. You CANNOT get proper readings on your gauge from that sensor, it is not a standard narrowband of the type that the gauge is made for.
Also FYI if you somehow mess up the wiring for the front 02 beyond repair, a replacement sensor is around $250. The only kind of A/F setup that is going to give you true, accurate readings is a gauge with its own dedicated wideband sensor. |

For future reference, always check the forums BEFORE you do these mods. Stuff like this is very well documented here.

PLX Devices makes a wideband converter for any AutoMeter A/F gauge. (found in another post) Reading up on it I see you have to wire it up with their other Controller device as well. But when done your AutoMeter gauge reacts perfectly wideband and becomes usefull. Wonder how much?
