Default Just got my AccessPort, a little confusion...

At the moment I have no exhaust mods, so I'll be running the Stage 1 map, but I have a few questions, and first among them is; do I have to download the Stage 1 Base map or does it come already installed on my AccessPort?

From the instructions it seems I have to...

1. Initialize the AP by plugging it into the car
2. Plug it into my computer and d/l the Stage 1 map
3. Plug it back into the car to d/l the Stage 1 map from the AP to the car

If this is correct, which map do I d/l? There is a new beta map talked about HERE, but is that the map I should use?

I thought the instructions would clear this up, but they haven't, so any information you can impart would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The map is already on your AP, you will not have to down load it.

To all the haters out there that think the Stage 1 Accessport can't make power

I've got an uppipe, i/c hoses, inlet pipe, and catback. YMMV

This thing is unreal! My engine feels as smooth as my old F20C (S2000), I just can't tell you how much of a difference this thing makes, easily the best $600 I've ever spent on any mod for any car. It'll make you wonder why Subaru didn't just make the car this powerful and smooth from the get-go, I mean, it has no chance of catching an STi, but man, it just feels soooooooo nice compared to stock.

Didnt feel like starting a thread but can anyone tell me if I can run a cobb stage 2 with a non-cobb exhaust? I assume you could but you wouldnt get the most power you could out of it, any ideas?

What were your base HP numbers, or what are stock WRX's seeing on that dyno?

I though installing the AP would be more trouble than it was after reading all the various threads in which folks were very confused. I ordered it on a monday, it arrived on thursday (standard shipping) and the install was cake. Just plugged in the little connector, plugged in the AP and 15 minutes after opening the package I was off on my first test drive. The difference gets more noticeable as you drive the car for the first week or so. VERY worth the $600. Going stage two over summer.

regretably, I didn't get baselines for my car, but stock cars on that particular dyno put down 170-180, so a wee bit on the high side. Stock STis put down 240-250 on that dyno.

Wednesday car? Factory freak? I don't know, but it's been good to me for 3.5 years so far

I understand AP comes with base maps, but does accessport comes with the latest version maps or you have to download it from their website?

depends on how long it has been sitting on the vendor's shelf. It comes with the newest available at the time Cobb sent it to the vendor. You can always get the newest stuff off their website.

A new version of the maps had been released a week prior to my purchase, and when it arrived it had the newest version of the maps already installed on the AP.

And if not, transferring the new maps is straightforward with the Map Management software.

Stage 1 has been nice, but I've got my TBE on order and will be stage 2 before long. I can't wait!!

That sounds really good...only thing holding me back is the stalling issues the 04's are having....id hate the car to stall out while in a turn ill wait till they get that issue resolved.

I know a couple people in town here with Stage 2 APs on 04s, and they have not complained about stalling issues. Not sure what's up with that.

BTW, I have been using my Accessport for over a year now, and it SOLVED the stalling issues I was having with my STOCK flash. My 2 cents....
