Thumbs up Farrish Subaru (Fairfax, Va) - highly recommended

I had an excellent experience with Farrish Subaru. After the dismal service and sales experience I had with my '05 Legacy GT at a NJ dealership, I kept second thinking getting another Subaru. After going to several local dealerships, all who were reluctant to special order my Forester, and outright refusing to work on the pricing, I was about ready to pass on the '09 Forester. I gave A.K. over at Farrish Subaru an e-mail after seeing his monthly Subaru deals thread, and he offered me an excellent deal on what I wanted.

I was very very picky on what I wanted - so a special order had to be made. In early August, A.K. placed the the order on a very highly optioned '09 Forester XT Limited w/ Navigation. A.K. then called me and/or e-mailed me every couple of days with updates on my Forester XT. Once the truck arrived last week, A.K quickly snapped pictures after it was unloaded from the truck and e-mailed them to me.

I asked him if he would order me the SPT exhaust, and after confirming that it would fit on the '09 FXT, he placed the order and got it for me. When it came in, which was the same time my '09 FXT arrived, they installed it on my FXT as requested. As soon as it was installed, I had photos (and videos) in my inbox from A.K, which was added a nice touch to the buying experience.

Today was the day I pick up my '09 FXT. I took Amtrak from NYC down to there, and when I arrived at the station. A.K. was there, and took me to the dealership. At the dealership, the paperwork was already prepared, and there were absolutely no surprises what so ever. Well, there were, and I got to take them home with me. (Thanks A.K.)

All pricing was exactly as promised, everything was there as promised, and A.K. walked me though all the options, how to set up the Sirius radio, and Navigation. I was very very impressed at how A.K. went above and beyond every step of the way. He was always a phone call or e-mail away though the entire waiting process, and he made my buying experience a very pleasurable one.

I highly highly recommend giving A.K. over at Farrish Subaru a call or e-mail if you are looking for a new or used Subaru. Make sure to check his monthly forum deal threads as well.

I would like to add on this thread. A.K Maloney has assisted me with not only my sti previously but also my m3 i had just bought off of him at Farrish Subaru. Not only was A.K helping me out directly and spending im guessing many hours on looking for my car previously and such. He always let me know what was going on and always was willing to hook me up with things although they might have been small, the small things make a whole lot of difference especially in a customers point of view. Thanks a lot AK and i will definately be referring ANYONE to farrish for whatever type of car they are looking to get. My 2 cents.

Update: Got my tags and plates early last week mailed from Farrish Subaru, and car now NYS inspected. This afternoon, I woke up and got the mail, and in the mail was a check from Farrish Subaru, for a refund for the overcharge for the NYS DMV. Letter apologized, and stated they charged me a little more than they should have - well I now got extra money in my pocket. Found money - w00t!!!!. I completely wasn't expecting it, and I am now even more impressed by Farrish Subaru.

I am extremely pleased with Farrish Subaru. They really opened my eyes up to how Subaru should be. If anyone here recalls my last Subaru I got from a Subaru dealership in NJ, it was a 4 year nightmare.

When I got my last Subaru at a local dealership in NJ, everything went wrong. I found out an hour before I signed for my car that it was the wrong blue (which I wound up taking after being talked into it), then it took them 3 days for them to correctly PDI the vehicle (went there 3 nights in a row after work, to find out they forgot to do something). Then they never processed the registration for the NYS DMV, so I had to park my the Legacy off the road for 2.5 weeks, because I had expired temps on it and no plates or registration. Then as soon as I got it back on the road, the rear tire failed (only had 300 miles on the tire) - several inches of the beed of the tire split. Dealership quickly told me it's not their problem, and found out through SOA that I needed to contact Bridgestone. After an hour of fighting with Bridgestone, they replaced the tire under warranty.
In 2007 - I didn't have my car for nearly 3 months as the Legacy rotted on the dealership lot, because they couldn't figure out how to fix the injector problem I was having. Note - car is stock - everything on it is all Subaru parts - nothing aftermarket. SOA sends one of their engineers down to fix my Legacy, which takes 1 day. SOA realizing how much I got screwed by this dealership in NJ makes right for my 3 months of aggravation. I was also not given a loaner for much of those 3 months, until SOA realized that as well, and got me a rental car.
At one point when I had the Legacy, I had an oil change at this dealership on a Saturday. I got the car home, ate lunch, and when I looked outside, I noticed a huge pond of oil under the Legacy. I called the dealership and told them about it, they tell me that they're closing in 20 minutes, and it will need to wait until Monday. So, no car until that Monday.

As you can see, my last Subaru ownership experience was horrendous!!!! Farrish Subaru really went out of their way the whole step of the way, they got me the Forester exactly how I wanted it, when I got to Virginia, all the paperwork was completed (waiting just for my signature), the car was fully prepped, and AK took me for a test drive in my new Forester, then we did the paperwork, and after all was done - he showed me how to step up the navigation, we set up my Sirius radio, and he then threw in some surprises. I didn't get that from my other dealership - I only got overcharged, no extras, never shown any of the features, etc when I got the Legacy in NJ.
