Default 02 WRX - Hesitation at 5000 RPM

Folks
I have a 02 WRX, when I hit 5K RPM sometimes, it sense a little hesitation just for a second and then it continues. This is not consistent but started to happen over the last two mts.

Any ideas on where I should look.

The car is stock with no modifications. I use 93 OCT fuel in it.

Thanks

Is it while pushing the throttle really hard, or just at part throttle? If it's at part throttle, it sounds normal to me. As far as I know, the stock ecu changes the way it fuels at 5000rpm while at part throttle. This is what I'd bet is causing the hesitation.

peace

If that is the reason, why wont it happen everytime it hits 5K RPM

actually, the ecu changes fueling around 4500RPM, no 5k. I'd recommend getting someone to log your ECU to get some more info about the problem.

I had a similar problem, but after installing the Cobb AccessPort (stage 1 91 oct) the problem was gone. Now the power is consistent and smooth all the way through the power band.
