Default AP and the dealer....

Quick Question....

I am taking my car in for the 60k service, can the dealer detect if I have the ECU flashed to Sgt 2?

Thanks,
-Jason

They can detect the downpipe required to run stage 2 properly. (oh... is that stg 2 for a WRX?)

I don't think they can. But how much warranty do you have left at 60k anyway? I held my extended warranty for less than a month before I cashed it in, knowing I'd never be able to hold off mods for 80k. I could barely hold off for 800.

I'm not sure about the 02/03 cars, but with the older map manager for 04+ cars the dealer sure could tell you flashed the ECU. The earlier map manager for 04+ cars would flash a map that would identify the ECU as one for the auto, no good for us 5-speed owners. I'm not sure if it's the same for the earlier cars, but this is a possibility you might want to look into. Like brought up above, if you're already running a catless downpipe this should be the least of your worries.

Wait.... are you taking your car for 60k maintenance service? Why are you worrying about the mods? Dealers do not give free maintenances anyway, and it has nothing to do with the warranty. They just do what the schedule suggests (supposingly), such as fluids change, hose/belts check, spark plug change, etc... Think about this, if they detect your ECU is mod'ed, they can say, "Excuse me, your warranty is void because you mod your car!" But do you ever care?? They won't call cops to arrest you because of the mods, and powertrain warrenty last up to 60k miles anyways.....
As far as I know, Subaru dealers way overcharge people for any major service (30k,60k,90k...) compare to your local subaru independent shops (cheaper price yet higher quality, if you can find one). So unless you confirmed there is no good-quality local independent subaru garages, you don't have to go to dealer for 60k maintenance.

Sorry but I never go to the dealer for service. I take it in to a Subaru professional and keep the paperwork should any warranty be required. I get a much better deal by dealing with a free lance Subaru technician. For Seattle it would be SmartService...
