Default Just got the Escort ZR3 and Passport 8500. Your thoughts on the product.

I just got it.
My question is
Did I just open the doors for police to pull me over on the road?

My consern is: Say, I am doing the correct limit I pass the cop and he sees he was jammed and then he is like lets inspect that flashy Blue Subaru......

Anyone have it in NNJ or PA?

Thanks,
Chuck

Yeah a jammer takes the laser and throws it away.'

How do you like it?

I frequent Rt17, Rt208, NJ Turnpike, RT80, like everyday plus traveling to Boston and D.C.

Curious has it called the cop before the cop called you?

When a cop shoots radar he sticks it out the window shoots and watches the traffic to see who's going fastest.
With lasar the cop has to aim it at 1 car at a time its harder.
His lasar jams your detector goes off you should have time to slow down and
shut the thing off. Did you mount the shut off in an easy spot to get to?
I live in NY and commute to Ct. I was hit with lasar on Rt 7 in ct and BRP in NY. My valantine 1 went off only after he taged me. Odd thing is I was driving slow enough to avoid a ticket. Thats unusual. I will have to invest in one soon.

Has what "called" the cop??? And how is the cop going to "call" you if he doesn't know your phone# ??

When detecting LIDAR, the ZR3 is going to shift the light pattern and will alert you that it's doing it. At this point, you quickly slow down and turn off the shifter. The cop will get a reading of your speed, but at that point you'll be doing the speed limit, so you have nothing to worry about.
On another note, a shifter or not, once you get close to the LIDAR, it will get your speed no matter what. All the ZR3 does is it just buys you time to react and adjust your speed. But either way, it's a good thing to turn the "shifting" off as quickly as possible, you don't want to give a cop a reason to pull you over.

The Jammer tells you hey there is a cop ahead with laser gun on .

Or

does the Cop have your speed and you now have some explaining to do.

Chandy69 -

I currently have V1 but I'm thinking about switching to that combo (8500 x50 plus ZR3).

Have you gotten a chance to install the ZR3 and linked it to 8500? How do you like them? Did you do the install yourself and was it hard?

Do you mind tellng me where you got your ZR3? The best price I have seen is around $299 from Tweeter.com. I haven't been able to find any retailer selling it locally (in Bergen county).

Thanks!

Your detector (8500) will alert you that it's detecting a laser hit. At the same time, the ZR3 will "shift" the signal, which confuses the LIDAR gun (and it doesn't show your speed). While it's working (and you're getting closer to the cop), you need to slow down and turn the ZR3 off as soon as you can. If you keep going above the limit and don't turn off the ZR3, once you get closer to the cop, he will know something is up because his LIDAR gun is not displaying anything (or shows an error). When you get even closer, he will get a reading of your speed no matter what (ZR3 is good, but not "above the law") and he'll know that you're using a shifter. At that point, if he finds a reason, he can pull you over and do whatever he wants with you.

Have not installed it yet.

But I Paid 400 bucks for the 2 shipped to my house off ebay.

The person i got it from was an guy mid 40's and he sold the car and had it removed professionaly to sell on ebay.

I'm excited to get it. Going through ezpass at the lincoln tunnel i will get to see it jam every day.

They use laser at EZ Pass toll booth? I don't recall ever seeing my V1 laser warning going off whenever I drive through Lincoln. I know they use radar to display your speed approaching the toll booth.

I have had this combo for about a yr and it is amazing. Saved me from 2 tickets so far, paid for itself the first month. You just have to remember to turn it off after you're hit. I have my mute button under my ebrake handle for a quick mute. The mute is also great for the radar alerts you know aren't anything threatening. Professional installation is recommended but if you can install an audio system, this will seem like a breeze.

This is a great investment if laser is often shot in your area!

A cop cannot give you a ticket for a laser jammer.
