Cost of the duffman setup is 200-250 depending upon whether or not you want a false floor with it.

I had one exactly like the Evolution auto setup and now have one like the duffman setup...and its no comparison. The duffman sounds as good or better and doesn't waste so much of your trunk space. And it is also securely mounted UNLIKE the other three trunk mounted enclosures.

Not true with the wicked unit - it attaches to a bracket and will not move around. It is also fiberglass, not mdf, so less weight as well. If I did not need the depth of my trunk though, the duffman unit looks great.

Nice to hear of that. I cannot tell you how many I have seen that the installers just screw it into the trunk liner board....thats safe

I had an evolution auto unit, and it sucked. heavy, moved around, and didn't fit many woofers. I had an oversized woofer and had to enlarge the hole a bit.

Perhaps but I lived in Hawaii at the time and shipping wasn't.

It wasn't as low cost as it is today, when it first came out I believe it was more. Somehow I recall paying over $200 for it, it's one of the worst purchases I ever made. $170 +$35 shipping I think.

Eitherway, it has it's place in the market as a last ditch resort. IMO it's large, clunky, and limited in it's applications.

Yep, I agree. I had something similar in the early 90's for my Mustang...never again will I go for a box.

Great thread! Thanks for making it. I like the wickedcas box the best...looks very well made, but the SBXI is just so close in style that for $170.00 less I couldn't possibly go with anthing but that one...AND a lifetime warranty.

the SBXI site is not workin for me. any one else? i love the wicked CAS box, but its SOOO expensive... if only someone could make a box like that for half of what they charge.

oh and as a person who has spent the last couple months looking for sub enclosures, to the thread starter, i salute you.

This SBXi site works for me, but I e-mailed the guy to get some more info about the enclosure and he said they had a fire that destroyed all of their materials. They won't be able to make anymore enclosures for a while.

bummer, the SBXI one looks nice too... we should do a group buy to see if we can get them to make a couple and lower prices. =P

I'm interested. I'd like to see pics of the other side of the enclosure. Any possible way to squeeze two 8's in there? Or maybe a 8w7. I assume it'll work for a 02-03 WRX

no cant fit 2 8s. when i first saw one similar i thought i could fit 2 8s but it wont fit because the area where the box slides into the trunk is a little too small. im not sure about the 8w7 it would depend on the cubic feet requirement differences between the 2. and yes would fit an 02 03
