is 18lbs pretty light for an 18" wheel? if not, then what should a "lightweight" 18" wheel weigh? and what about 17" wheels? the stockers weight around 16-17# right?

I just bought my '05 STi last month, and stopped by my dealer a couple days ago thinking ahead about some winter tires/wheels. I asked what the stock gold 17X8 BBS wheels costed, he told me $713.00!!! Ouch!!!
So I'm probably going to look elsewhere for my winter wheel set. Do any of you know how much the stock 17X8 BBS STi wheel weighs? I have a friend who races Formula Atlantic and he says $700.00 is WAY too much to pay for an alloy street car wheel. What do you guys/gals think? |

I'm sure you can get a set of the MY05 stock BBS wheels for much much cheaper than dealer. Don't ever pay the dealer for that kind of outragous price. Just be patient and wait for those MY05 owners who's upgading to 18s and selling their OEMs.
Just as a reference, used MY04 OEM BBS with tires sell for about $1000-$1200. That's four wheels plus four tires with low miles. |

18lb for 18" is not too bad but slightly on the high side of "lightweight". I was checking out the SSR GT2 18x8.5s, Tirerack labeled them lightweight at 17.2lb each.

I thought SSR goes bankruptcy. It is good to know if it is not true.
SSR Comps is the lightest wheel around. |

yup- I love my 18" comps!
Make sure you get a light tire to go with that too if you're concerned about weight-savings! |
