Default CEL's?

Just a clarification... Do CEL's actually hurt performance?

Not at all! But many of the conditions that trigger them do. Depends on the CEL. Some are "pull over now and don't touch the keys!", and some are "no worries mate!"

a steady flashing CEL is a 'stop the car' kind...some will make the cel flash and stop.....and some conditions will put the car into 'limp home' mode and some won't do a thing other than annoy you....

If you get a p0420 or a p0139 it will run fine, unless the reason you are getting them is a cat melting and plugging up. If you get the TGV CEL after removing the TGVs, it will not prevent the car from running well... The big problem is someone gust the cats, gets the p0420, and blows it of. Then later when the car is running bad, they actually pull the CELs and that one p0420 has been masking the appearance of 5 or 6 more, and they have been killing the engine.
