Default WRC Tarmac Project - progress pics...

Now that just about all of my parts are finally here (waited like 13 months), some serious progress has been made on the WRC Tarmac Project. I'm sure the finished product will be worth the wait, but everytime I see these pics, it makes me ill...

I sure hope so Hank...it's been a long road but I think I'm finally able to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

For those wanting to know, the plan for the WRC Tarmac Project has been my goal to build a daily driven WRX to emulate the 2002 bug-eyed WRC car.

I say "emulate" because I did not want a full blown replica racer. I had the chance to get the entire Burn-Up WRC replica kit a while back, but passed when I saw it on an actual White car. I think all the scoops and ducts look too "busy" on a pure White car, unless it has the WRC graphics...but that would put it in the "replica racer" category which would be too high vis for what I'm going for...

Instead, I'm going for a street version of a European Privateer WRC car, if that makes any sense at all. Something ultra clean, but when you see it you will notice certain aspecs of the WRC car. Kinda like when they came out with the Prodrive edition STi in Europe. It had a front bumper and grill that resembled the WRC car, but it was definitely not a replica racer.

There are definitely certain aspects to this built up that lend credibility to this look, which I am working towards. The most recognizable would be the graphics, but since I am trying to do this sans graphics, the little details become that much more important.

You should rig a fold down rear seat while you have the whole car apart. What's the last pic of anyway? Looks like fog lights or something in the fold down center section.
