I have a 01RS, that I've decided needs turbo. I work for VW, and can get the turbo they are using in the GTI/Beetle/Passat/Jetta. Pretty cheap too. I dont even know what turbo they are using, but do know that it spools up very very quickly, and runs at like 6psi. I am not looking to run anymore than that, as I'm afraid of problems. Is anyone using their turbo? Is it cost effective to try to make that turbo work on my RS? In other words is this even worth thinking about? Thanks to all that reply.

Do not even bother about the KKK03 turbine. They are too small if you want to get good power.
The max to be seen has be around 220hp crank at 18psi mid rpm. Even the K04 is a dead end ~ 250max crank. What's nice though of the K03 is instant spool up. d 92slc I need a six speed tranny from the new Golf in Europe. Any hookups ? ![]() |

See, thats what I want- instant spool up. Still 220 hp is not bad, but how much work and money would be involved to make this work? Does this kind of set up require a bigger fuel pump or any electronics to keep my motor from blowing up? Does anyone know of a shop that does good work, that can make this work in NY/NJ/CT? As I said earlier, I can get the turbo itself easily, its the rest that worries me.

The VW turbo is too small even for the 1.8l engine. This turbo size does give a pool table flat torque "curve" in my Passat wagon. This turbo will run out of "air " by 5k.
Look for a T3/4 with the right trim and you will have all the torque you want ... and lots of advice from everybody that is running the T3/4. Even the purists [ you know who you are ] have come to understand that this turbo is the best "bang" [figuratively] for the buck in the Subaru. The T3/4s are plentiful, parts are easily available. You can even find used ones on EBAY or parts on the i-club ...http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthr...referrerid=699 Want a nice down pipe or wastegate for a T3/4 .... email me ![]() Joe Hogan |
