Default Stock ECU compairison.

Hi, I have no idea what i'm doing when it comes to electrical. For my own reasons I am converting a 94 Automatic FWD L wagon into a manual AWD. I have read the writup on surrealmirage.com and even asked the author about my situation. He doesn't know. My question is this: if I am converting from an auto to a manual do I need a new ECU?

I'm thinking yes, Which would lead to my next question of: In the writup (I think his name is legacy777) he modified his ECU by grinding down a pin and bringing an electical charge somewhere, can I do that?

Any advice would be very helpfull, Thanks.

I am pretty sure that a new manual ECU would fix my problem. Do I need to modify anything else? i.e. wiring, gauges, exc. exc.
