Default Another UTEC "I need help with knock" Thread

But seriously....please help.

STi UTEC with TBE + Intake. 93 Octane. I have intermittent "knock" between 5800-6000.

Initially, I had to turn up the knock sensativity because it wasn't picking knock events up. Now I'm not sure if it's overly sensative or if this is legitimate knock.

I've pulled lots of timing around the 5750 timing zone to try to help and it's still intermittent. I've throw 94 and 100 octane in and have still seen it occassionally. The odd thing is I've even set timing to 25 degrees at that site to try to induce knock and it resulted in no knock. But at 21 degrees it'll show up.

So I've set the knock count threshold for 2 counts so it ignores these single counts.

Here are the logs. What's going on here?

UTEC picks something up, ECU doesn't:

Your utec isn't pulling timing during these events.

I set the knock count threshold for 2 counts so it ignores these single counts.

Also, it's very sporadic. I'll see it maybe 1 out of 8-10 runs and almost never back to back. The ECU almost never has dips in timing at that point and I never see more than a single count.

Bah!

After playing with it for another hour...I tried lowering boost and different timing.

I settled on lowering the boost between 5k and 6k and turned the sensativity down.

Guess we'll see how it goes tomorrow.

At every one of those knock sites, I'd pull a degree of timing and lean it out a tiny bit. Might actually pick up more torque...
