Default 04 EJ25 drop into an 02EJ25

Any major difference between 04 and 02 on the EJ25 SOHC 2.5L engine? I found a solid price on this 04 engine with less than 20k miles on it but want to verify that I will not need to mess with anything other than "plug and play" install....any ideas or advice?

I have an offer at $800. It does not include the ECU which is why I am worried. I can't figure out whether or not hte ECU and sensors are the same from 02-04. I cannot do wiring so I need to make sure that the engine will work with my ECU without any modifications.

There are some differences in the ECU for '04. The car in general is torquier on the bottom end for '04+. I would encourage you to get the '04 ECU with the motor.

Thanks TopSpeed, if I get the ECU with the motor, will I need to modify anything else or simply plug it in to the same clips? The ECU is available so I will be getting it if I decide to purchase. Torquier is nice! Will this be a straightforward process of pulling my 02 EJ25 out and dropping in the ECU and Engine from the 04?
