Most locks like that have a clever mechanism holding them in that require the key to be inserted, along with a hairpin or paper-clip to push in a small, springloaded clip. The key may need to be turned to the lock or the unlock position for it to come apart. Always a fun puzzle.

ok, so i went to the dealer, and there is a little clip on the back side of the lockthat you have to depress, it is copper looking, and all you do is slide it to the center of the lock, and it just pops out the front. yippee...

Just broke ours as well, same year 2002 RS. How much was the lock mechanism? We already figured out how to get out the lock cylinder
