I have received quite a bit of interest in my car since I mentioned in a different thread that I would consider selling my car if the price was right. I was at the dealership this evening and they actually offered a very competitive price. I think I underestimated the value of my car when I posted in an earlier thread. So, I figured I would give private buyers who might be interested in my car a chance to inquire before I give in to the dealer.

Benefit to private buyer - lower sale price than the dealer would sell for and no GST. Benefit to me - higher sale price than dealer would give on trade-in. Just a thought.

Some of the vitals include:

MY:2001
2 door coupe
Sedona Red Pearl (very rare)
Manual transmission
46K KMs - probably 50/50 highway/city
All service done according to schedule at the dealer
Aftermarket alarm (hood/trunk/doors/shock/peizo/backup battery)
Remote starter
Ganzflow intake
AMSOIL air filter
Still has 6 months of powertrain and corrosion warranty

I also have a set of 15" steelies with Nokian NRW's. Probably 85% tread left.

For some additional information and pictures, please send me a PM.

I have not established what I would "need" to sell my car so I am basically looking for offers.

Thanks for looking.

Thanks Prelude. I appreciate your patience in this. I honestly don't know what the market is like for my car so this is an interesting feeling out process.

I'll keep you up to date. Good luck again in your search for that elusive RS.

Well, not sure it will be gone yet. Its partly about what I can get for it and what I could do on a new car.

I was looking at the STi but the more I think about it, the less it makes sense. As much fun as it would be, I think a more understated car would suit my purposes better. I don't really want to attract the attention that an STi gets. My RS draws enough attention as is. There are few places to use the power and handling of the car without getting in trouble. As well, things like the DCCD are really nice but I won't use them to their fullest. It would cost more the insure than my RS by about $300 per year as well. Of course, the price is also a major consideration.

I thought about the WRX but what is really catching my eye right now is the Legacy GT. IMHO, the interior is much nicer than the STi and its definitely more understated. It has lots of power and its handling is respectable. Its longer than the STi by one foot, but that isn't a major issue. Also, its cheaper to insure than my RS by about $100 per year.

Leaning towards a Legacy GT but still considering the WRX and the Forester XT.

when do u plan on switching or getting something new? because i don't mind waiting. if the dealer quoted u a trade in value and the offical quote i may be willing to pay that. that way u know the car will go to someone that will take care of it

i was looking at the GT used as well and the price are fair. its got a good sport look to it as well and the 4 doors is aways a great feature.

I will likely switch to something new if I get the right price for my car. That I am still working on. There has been some strong interest in my car and I thank everyone who has expressed an interest in it.

As for selling my car to someone who will take care of it, that is a consideration but I tend to remove myself emotionally from things such as this. Emotions won't help me sell a car.

The Legacy's are nice. I find the 165HP models a little weak but certainly comfortable.

Yep, 46K. I just don't drive a lot I guess. No major road trips the last couple years so that keeps the KMs down too. As for letting my car go, I might still keep it. As I mentioned, I have to see what kind of market there is for my car. I do like the Legacy GT.

My girlfriend keeps telling me to keep the car because its in such good shape and looks so good. What does she know hey?

Forgot to respond to this part. Things are going good. Keeping busy with work. Definitely looking towards the summer. Gonna try to get in a lot of golf this summer. Travel a bit as well. How about you? Life good? Car running well?

If only I knew this before I tore mine apart. Now I am too far into customizing it to make sense getting your's. Right color, right year, right model, wrong time. Good Luck my friend. BTW, I think you should keep your car too, IMHO.

I've had some feelers and some strong interest in my car. I might have to breakdown and sell it. I must admit that heated seats would be nice in the winter. Dress pants are pretty darn thin! Choices ...

What has recently crossed my mind is to sink a few extra dollars into my RS and keep it for a few more years. This would definitely be the cheaper alternative. With my engine only having 46K KM's, it should have lots of good years left. I have perfectly good winter wheels with 80% tread left.

With the money I would be pouring into a new car, I could instead save it for a house or something. One other thing on my mind is that the '06 Legacy may be improved. So, I am reluctant to buy the '05 model in the event that the '06 has some more goodies. Choices ...

What I would do to my car if I keep it:

Normally I do a full detail of my car each spring but I might just pay someone this time. I usually take a full day, about 12 hours to do it all, but I am thinking its easier to pay someone now. Yeah, call me lazy.

I am not sure what else I might do to the car if I keep it ... any ideas? Reliability would be key. Maybe some headers and exhaust?

if no suspension bits are put in - start there. I would if I could fork over a chunk of change to do lowering springs and struts all in one shot. apgrade the RSB - best/cheapest upgrade suspension wise you can do. beyond that maybe bushings and engine/tranny mounts along with a short shift

I don't know what you have done to your car... but that's the way I'd keep going if I were to keep the car and put money into it.

i am surprised that u aren't selling i see it posted on autotrader and the car is sweet especially for people wo are not a fan of silver. from what i can tell it seems like people have less interest in subarus which is weird. it hink they are awesome espeically for edmontonians. i hope i can see your car someday cause i think its great.

I figured I would give it a quick whirl in the Auto Trader and see what the interest is like. I have a buyer who will pay cash in July. He is just saving up. He sent me an email yesterday to remind me that he was seriously interested and will make a formal offer in July. I also received a call from a fellow yesterday. So, interest has been there, but I realize there are alternatives and whatnot to my car.
