Default GDB STI 2.0lt motors?

My rod bearing in my engine turned. I check the oil and found metal shaving in it. now i am wondering if the JDM STI ver. 7 2.0lt motor we fit onto a Ver. 3 wiring harness. I had it in mind that i could change the sensors on the ver. 7 to ver. 3. does anyone know that this can be done? I heard rumors that the ver. 7 has variable valve timing. is this true? i just don't want to get another Power FC.

yeah, your best bet would probably be to just get a shortblock. most should bolt up, you could probably even do the ej257 block, or the ej22, or just find another 2 liter block

Without some serious modification the harness will NOT work and the power FC will not be able to control the AVCS. If the ver 3 manifold will mount up to the ver 7 motor you will have a better chance of getting it to work. I did the swap prior to my current build and modding the harness and getting the power FC to work properly were a true pain.

so i have to use my ver 3 manifold is there some way that i could take the AVCS out or off the engine to use the Ver. 7? by the way, i am not very techincal but what is a AVCS? i never really worked with them. could it be "Advance Valve Cam System"? if that is the case then why would i need to use my Ver 3 manifold instead of the Ver. 7?

V3 intake will not fit on V7 heads. Best bet is to replace just the block only.

I replaced my ver. III shortblock w/an EJ257.

I just swapped over my heads and intake manifold. I'm running a Power FC as well.

PM me if you want oid_duwel.

well i won't beable to find a EJ25 block around here. japan didn't really come out with a 2.5 STI motor. I know that the EJ20K heads will not fit on the EJ20G block. I could find EJ20G and EJ207 motors everywhere but could not find a EJ20K. so i am trying to figure out if i could make the EJ207 work. i am sure that i could pull out the AVCS. can i use the EJ20K heads on a Ej207 block?

mykr i'll PM later i got to get to work!

You should be able to fit the K heads on the EJ207.

Yea if the heads fit then your in business. As far as AVCS is concerned yea its cam timing so to speak, but if you use the block only you will be in business.
