Cool Maine Rally weekend was wonderful ....

Hey all (those who went to the rally),

First, thanks for the company at the rally .... it ruled. Did anyone catch or know who won? How did the Subies do? ? All the same, seeing cars move that fast thru those roads and inhaling dust and all was and is really fun!! These guys truely amaze me how they manage to control their cars. Thanks for allowing me to share that with you all.

My apologies for bailing out on Sat. As you know I did not catch much sleep since it was not exactly warm and cozy to sleep under. I sorta froze a bit. and driving for another 3-4 hours did not make anything easier. However, I could not help but think, ponder, and wonder what it might be or could have been if I had hanged in there for a bit longer and took up the offer Pete so generously offered.

We could have had a nice camp fire have a few beers and some fun with fellow NESIC members. Pete, btw where is this cabin and what kind of activities could we have looked forward for?

Mark Lovell finished 3rd -- something less than 2 minutes behind Seamus Burke's Evo 6 and Paul Choiniere's Hyundie,

Karl Scheible in the Group N Subaru was way way back in 31st, although the lead Group N Subaru finished in 5th place overall - someone I never heard of before - Ramana Lagemann from Allston Mass.

Unfortunately the Krolikowski's DNF'ed their elderly WRX Sti...

Oh... and that nut case Swede brought his yellow Volvo 740 in 13th overall.

You can read all the gory details
here.

Was it you who pulled up at the "cat-sucked-it" (Cupsuptic) Campgrounds around 8:30 Friday evening ?

Have a Nice Day?

Jonathan - I did not pull up until 10:00PM ... part of the reason why I was so tired on Sat. .... anyhow ... it looks like subies did quite well.

Fishguy - is that a hint that I should be chubby bunny now? My head is pounding again now (for whatever reason) hmmmm ..... albunny to chubbybunny ..... I think I can do that

al could definitely be considered a "lightweight,"

thus maybe it's an opposite logic thing...
seriously though that was one fun time. I am so glad I went to take it all in, to include: dust (lots and lots), mud, Moose (and their poops), OCTANE, really awesome cars doing crazy speeds in the middle of the forest, subarus EVERYWHERE, smoky fires, freakin cold water, getting stung by a bee, joe z's mad dash for tire scraps, driving the roads up there, the whole thing was unreal.
did I mention really awesome cars doing crazy speeds in the middle of the forest?

Anyway, thanks to all who helped make it memorable... work tomorrow by comparison sounds so... bleah.

Yeah. Same here, too.

Special thanks to Kris for setting this all up, and to Ken for letting me "mooch" off of his campground everything I forgot to bring...

Default 1st series of pictures:

Here are some pictures to tie you guys over for a while. I took over 450 pics. It'll take me a while to upload all of them. I think I have just enough space on my Photopoint membership to host them all. I know there are a lot of doubles in there, I haven;t had time to edit them yet.

Enjoy:

Some photos for you guys to drool over:

one thing i must understand. why is karl in group N? he usually finishes very high on the overall standings doesnt he? i dont get it.

and you almost got me in the pic of the blue rex going around the backstop. sheperd came within 2 inches of hitting the backstop in his heavy leadpord skin eclips.

they do it that way so they are in different classes. He runs a nearly stock setup less the seem welding, and prodrive suspension, & roll cage. The other car, Mark's, well that's a beast, not much stock there.
