Default JDM Swap: What exhaust fits?

I am swapping a 1999 JDM WRX engine into my 1999 2.5RS (yes, finally!) and I was wondering where I can find an exhaust that fits.
My Borla full exhaust is 2.25" so that's too small, plus the RS exhaust will not bolt up to the downpipe.
I am told that a WRX exhaust also won't bolt up, plus that's 2 1/4 " too.
I can't find a JDM GC8 exhaust anywhere, and I suspect I can't afford one either.
Is there a cheap / easy way of doing this? Maybe buying a used STI exhaust and having a muffler shop modify it? Or buying a cheap ebay aftermarket USDM exhaust and taking that to the muffler shop?

I would think this is the *best* way of doing it, the cheapest would be to get a WEX exhaust and having the muffler shop fab it up.

Shouldn't be too much at all. >$150 total. I got my sti exhaust for $90. Thanks to wrx_driver_2002.

INCORRECT!!

a usdm wrx exhaust will bolt up, i use one every year to pass emmissions

2 caviots ..
A. if you have a 6 speed you need a DP that will clear it
B. one of the mounting brackets in the back does not line up .. but you don't need it get some eurathane mounts for the other 3 (which match up perfectly)

a picture even (stock wrx exaust)

Wow, that is good to know. Thanks!
So, should I go for a used USDM STI exhaust, or should I buy a cheap ebay aftermarket WRX exhaust? The STI exhaust is 2.5" and I can get one used shipped for maybe $200, and for a little more than that I could get a 3" aftermarket ebay exhaust...

Jaxx (or anyone else who knows):
Your WRX exhaust bolts up because you have a WRX downpipe, right?
My engine has the JDM downpipe (one cat converter); that is the problem with trying to get the exhaust to bolt up I believe; it has a different mounting location from either the WRX or the RS exhaust.
Still not a problem for an exhaust shop you think? Also, would a cheap ebay exhaust provide more gains than a stock USDM STI exhaust?

Yes if you have jdm DP u need JDM catback, and visa versia.. It isnt that the mounting is different, it is the lengths of the dp, and mid pipe..

I am running a txs stealth back on mine with STI sport muffler..

Personally i wouldnt waste your time buying a stock exhaust.. HKS dp for 150 new, and a cheap cat back..

throw away the jdm dp (or try and sell it) there is just too many good options for usdm exaust to waste your time on the jdm pipe
get a usdm down pipe, you really should be able to find one for free ..or a cheep turbo back

if you go in to 2.0 forums there is a cheep turbo back ebay turbo back for 275 its "good enough" and will definatly make better power or a new hks dp for <$190

yes signifigantly better, the cat in the jdm dp is simmilar to the udsm .. the 3rd cat that the usdm has is not very restrictive

edit: too slow
