Good luck. Report back if you find someone because I have not heard of anyone who does V3 and V4.
What are you trying to accomplish? Lower octane? Speed limiter elimination?
I have heard there is a work around for the speed limiter on the UK boards.

nope no ecutek for ver.4 only ver 5 and later

if it was me i would look at an autronic or link plug-n-play
in hind site i wish i had done the autronic instead of the tec -of course i would have blown several turbos running ALS by now

not to hijack thius thread......but.......

if i have a Ver6 RS with a Ver6 STi RA complete conversion (engine/working DCCD tranny/ecu/rear drivetrain) is it possible to get an EcuTek reflash?

if so where? anyone that does EcuTek reflashes ? or would i need to send my ECU to someplace in UK/Japan for a reflash of the JDM ECU?

sorry, the conversion is on the way and i am trying to figure out what i can do to get the engine to run HAPPILY on 93 octane.

thanks. sorry again for hijacking.

the 1998 and older subarus were not reflashable..

you might be able to send it out and get work done to it, but i dont thin a OBD flash will work on it...

Why not wire in a 02/03 WRX ECU? ECUtek, UTEC, way more options.

Apexi Power FC & PossumLink are the two standalone EMS set ups for the phase 1.5 motors (ver. III/IV STi)

I got a Power FC and have NO regrets on it.

There is no way to remove the OEM speed limiter unless you do a signal conversion which they sell in the UK for 110 GBP (~200+ USD) or get a Apexi PFC or PossumLink.

If you have any questions on the PFC, feel free to ask. It's a very comprehensive EMS set up and controls all the stock items.

Yoshi can re-flash your stock V4 ECU. Just have to take a trip, or send your ECU to his place in Canada.

Thanks Omaha that's is good to know.

Mykr - what benefits did you get from the Power FC? More power? Supporting different turbo/injectors/exhaust? What are the advantages over the stock ECU?

Apexi PFC is the way to go, trust me. It is fully programmable and works very very well. It plugs right in replacing you ECU. It has 20x20 fuel and ign maps, plus a ton more. There is a third party laptop interface. I run one with my Version 6 RA motor and a TD05H-20G. There are quite a few 10 and 11 second Subarus in the UK running them. You can get 93-00 PowerFC's from Andy Forrest in the UK. http://andyforrestperformance.co.uk/16253.html

revel - Your DCCD doesn't use the ECU, it uses the DCCD controller. I have the exact same setup as you do. You can use a different ECU, you don't need a Subaru ECU. Sending an ECU to the UK for a reflash just isn't worth it. Also, Ben from Lachute in Canada has Flash99 and can reflash the older ECU if decide to reflash it anyway. Let me know if you need a spare, I have an AF041 (STI 6 RA) sitting in a box collecting dust.

As for the speed limiter - you can get them from Graham Goode in the UK. It's just a converter that you wire into the speed signal from the tranny. Actually, since I am running a PowerFC now, I can get probably get rid of mine... PM me if interested (but beware, I will try to convince you that the PFC is your best bet!)

dmross- thanks for the info! really good to know i can simply change out the ECU and have it tuned with the car.

how long have you been running the Apexi PFC in your RA?

anyone know anything about MINE'S ECUs? might be able to get a hold of one and was just curious as i know very little about the MINE'S ECUs.

I have been running the PFC since I upgraded to the FMIC/20G/740 injectors/etc, about a year now. I was using the stock ECU with an STI 8 topmount and turboback exhaust with the stock VF29. I was initially going to just get a reflash, but I decided to go big and I did a ton of research on the different options. The PowerFC was the most practical. I can retune it for any changes to my setup. I use an AVC-R for boost control; It's a great combination. I really wish they would make the PowerFC for the new-age WRX/STI. They are still available for the Mitsubishi EVO and a few other newer cars right now.

I have found some of the best info covering the Version 5/6 STI's on the UK bulletin boards, especially http://bbs.22b.com and http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk The search on 22b.com is really slow so you may want to limit it to the tech forums, but there is a wealth of really good information 2.0 WRX/STI motors and other similar Subarus that were available there long before Subaru offered a turbocharged Impreza in the US. The Brits and Scots have been modifying them for quite some time and a lot of different setups & projects are well documented, it just takes a little while to get used to their sense of humor.

I don't know much about the MINES ECU, but I assume it is an off-the-shelf customized ECU that is meant to be used with a particular combination of parts.

in the most recent impreza magazine #26 they show a pfc for the new age

unless you speak japaneese adjusting the mines (if its adjustable) will be tough .. i think its just a reflashed ecu -not really good to you
