Default my trunk release doesnt work

My trunk latch or release mechanism does not work.... however, when i use the key from the back it opens fine.... When i pull... i can pull all the way, but i dont get that NOCK or THUNK feeling and sound.... How can i fix this?

There's a switch on the trunk lock that disables the truck release from inside the cabin. Maybe you accidentally flipped the switch.

did you accidentaly hit the child thing.. or whatever its called?? its on the latch itself... just go through the little hole in the seat and pull the emergency lever.

The purpose of the lever is so you can put stuff in the trunk, and a valet will not be able to get to it. since the valet key doesnt work on the trunk or glovebox.

You got it. When I frst had my STi it drove me nuts. I keep it locked becuase I have toooo much money in my trunk.

I hope that doesnt ever happen to me since I shaved my trunk keyhole. Asshats broke in twice and took my powerbook the first time.

When I picked up my STi I had this problem.. I was sooo confused/annoyed at first, then my wonderful saleswoman showed me that little switch in the trunk

I just re-installed the emergency latch for that very reason. I don't have a key lock either, and without that emergency release, if that latch got flipped I would have had a hell of a time getting the trunk open.

I have the cabin release disabled because I hide the bodies in my trunk.

Thats awesome. Subaru does such a nice job of engineering cars for everyone's uses. btw....how many bodies can you get in there without cutting?

theres this lever that i move up and down and trial and error and still the lever will not pop my trunk open

my record is 7, and they were all adults...(if u have midgets they only count as 1/3-1/2 a body, depending on height...see the official rulebook for more details)
