Default HID's not in black!?

I'm interested in installing a set of HID's on my 03 WRX. My question is as follows.

1. Can I find them cleared instead of black (do they have to be black)
2. Can I just buy HID bulbs and install them in my stock headlights?

oh, well, you would just paint the housings to any color you want.
the EDM STI headlights are a black chrome, and look bad ass. either way, just paint the lights.
