Did you guys see the picture that Rally Subaru put on the Sun today as the new 2006 STi??? I think I saw that before but people claimed that it was a Photoshop made by a magazine... not the real one. (or at least I hope not)

Weird... I was thinking about calling Jeremy and ask if that was a joke or not.

It's not a joke.

Aparently for the 2006 model year the wRX is getting a 2.5L turbo engine. If you go into the news and rumors area there's a ginormous thread about it. It's been confirmed and there's a LOT of controversy surrounding the whole thing.

Some people are mad that Subaru has gone away from its "rally roots" and ditching the 2.0 in the WRX others are happy and feel it's definitely needed.

No one's sure on power numbers though.

I know..I asked him about that a while ago if he say the concept pics and he didnt know if it was real or not at the time. But why would they put that pic in an ad for a joke if they are trying to sell cars???

Looks like I will be going with a 2005 for sure if thats what the syle is going to

I like it. Maybe it's the "young" in me but I like the fact that's it's COMPLETELY unique (except with the obvious triangular rendition of alfa romeo) and there's NOTHING even close to it in N. America.

Given the poor attendance at any race other than NASCAR on this continent, the only folks that will bitch about the 2.0 motor will be off this continent.

IIRC, the 2.5 "standard" motor is for our shores only.

Besides, I prefer torque!

With all the cars seeming to get the 2.5 it will be cheaper for us to get used parts like coilpacks, longblocks to build up etc

.

Personally I'm waiting on the H6 to be factory turbo'ed, now that would be real fun.

I agree with Markus. I absolutely LOVE the idea of the 2.5 becoming the standard. Give me torque and you'll be seeing my taillights

Anyway, anyone read about the rumor of an AWD roadster??? Supposedly it's supposed to be direct competition for the Miata. There's also a rumor it will be the 2.0 turbo engine.

Well, that solves the problem. I don't need to get a STi anymore... a simple WRX 2.5 will do!

It will take a while, but I think I might warm up to it (glad I got my car when I did, though). 2.5 WRX will be nice!!!
