Default STI V8 into MY00 GC8 [few questions]

1- Can I use the STI V8 axles or I have to get R180 GC8 axles?

2- Can I use the STI V8 aluminium control arms or I will end up with bad camber?

3- What to do with cruise control? It seems to be at the same place than the turbo...

4- Do I need to get GD gas pedal wire or I can use the GC8 one?

Other questions will surely come soon

Thanks!!

thanks 2000wrx.

And yes, I did a search. All I found is answers like "it should" or "it shouldn't". I want to hear from people who actually tried.

Don't know the answer to your first question, but:

2). I'm 95% sure you can, I know some people have used USDM WRX stuff with good results.

3). Throw it away/sell it. Your V8 uses an electronic cruise control system, the RS one is mechanical. You'll need an electronic WRX unit.

4). Not sure if the V8 is drive by wire, if not, yes, you can use your GC8 throttle cable, just trim it.

GC R180 rear axles are the same length as the GD V8.

Is it a USDM motor or a JDM motor? There are a variety of differences between the two, with the USDM motor being a lot more work.

Ok, it's a JDM Ver8.

Americanyouth: JDM is not drive by wire. So maybe I'll try to use my mechanical cruise control.

Ver.III: thanks a lot!

Im doing a similar swap but the JDM sti v8 is going into a 95L . you probably have to do fewer parts to make the swap work.

I read a thread that said you can reuse your gas pedal because the JDM v8 are not fly by wire. I personally am not I just bought a full 02-05 wrx pedal assembly with the lines and slave cylinder because my L doesnt have hydraulic clutch. you do so your fine there.

the aluminum control arms shouldnt give you a problem I believe they are the same length but if they are shorted you can always lower the car a bit and it should fix the problem.

Im getting rid of the cruise control I never liked it and my swap is going to be for a auto x car / track days car . depending on what your doing with it you should consider looking for an STI gas tank or the gas tank mod to help with starvation. The older tanks dont have a problem with is but Ive heard all the way up to 06 have experienced Fuel starvation in corners with 1/4 tank of gas.

Are you using the same steering rack ? have you gotten a crossmember to fit the engine? Are you doing the full drivetrain swap as well ?
