Default Wiring quandry vol.234

So I am alomst finished with my usdm WRX into my 00 RS. I am using a V7sti harness spliced into RS harness. Anyway the car will run now, but I think the alt might be tired as the batt slowly (very slowly) looses charge. Here is the real question however:

My thermostat guage. When the car is off, but batt is hooked up, the thermostat is all the way up. When I turn the car on (start it up) or even ACC, the thermostat drops. I know the coolant temp guage wire (WG) is in the correct place on the ECU. Also my gas guage doesnt work at all. I know I am not on E. I should have about 1/2 tank. And the Gas light is on. I am wondering if these are connected? Where do the guages ground at? Also I havent let the thermostat warm up yet to see if it is functional.

What do you think? Other than that it seems the car runs fine.

Thanks!
Randy

The W/G goes from the engine to your gauge directly. The engine has its own signal that comes from the coolant sensor (b/y) .

As for the fuel gauge, when you disconnected the stock engine plugs for you stock RS engine, you have also disconnected the grounds for the gauge cluster. I think its the grey plug with the large 4 wires on the bottom row of the plug. They are all suppose to be grounded , but the one you are looking for is the b/r .
