Exclamation Code Red worm, is the i-club site protected

I heard about it on the news today and here is an article on it.
http://tech.msn.com/ip/msnart83.asp
I heard that is only effects Windows NT & 2000 machine. The worm comes over that net from what I heard and Microsoft has a patch for it on there web site.

Is that to say that linux is virus/hack proof?

cause you can crack a linux web server...just as easily as you can a ms server...ms is just more published because its what EVERYONE uses....

yea, i was refering to what this site is run from...

I was not saying it isnt virus/hack proof.

but in terms of those holes being fixed, i like the option of either fixing them myself by finding the bane code...or being able to have a fix available that day or the next...versus having to wait for microsoft to get thier asses in gear.

now dont get me wrong, i use win2k as much as i use linux, and its a grea OS..i just wish i didnt have to wait from service pack to service pack....

BSD forever!!!

Linux has designed for hackers by hackers.....
MS has cracking and virus problems, created by cheap labor programmers....
Mac has programers with a sense of humor, little common sense.......
Unix (BSD) the true and only OS designed for programmers by programmers.

BTW, hackers = bad programmers

Umm....the hot fix was released 1 month before the worm saw the light of day.

Of course, most NT admins out there are too stoopid to install hot fixes...I know, I work with them.

Both Linux and Windows (and BSD) can be made secure if the admins stay on top of things. The difference is, with Windows, you hope your firewall, anti-virus, and other add on software is up to date. There is no need for anti-virus software on Linux or BSD. The people just fix the hole in the OS instead of depending on some program to catch and stop security breaches.
