I just got my ECU back from Rocket Rally in Squamish B.C. and my WRX is running like a dream!!!
First some background: My car: 2004 WRX wagon My relevant mods: Crucial Racing UP Crucial Racing DP Prodrive exhaust I used to run the Cobb Accessport but I was one of the peeps having major issues with stalling. Also, with Cobb my idle was totally crazy... up and down every 10-15 seconds. The acceleration used to be super rough too. One of the things that really concerned me also was that there was always a weird burning smell from my exhaust whenever I parked my car. I decided to go with ECUTEK based on what I've read from other users. I went with Rocket Rally to get my ECU reflashed. First off the customer service is terrific. Jamie Slater took care of me right from the beginning and kept me informed every step of the way. They shipped it back out to me super quick also. Today when I popped the ECU back in and took my car for a spin, it was totally insane! The acceleration is sooooooo smooth I just cannot describe it. The OL/CL transition has been tuned out as well. My WRX pulls so hard now that I feel like I'm driving a totally different car! First gear feels like it lasts for barely a second. Then when shifting to second, the pull has me pinned right in my seat and the acceleration is super smooth and consistent. The idle is also rock solid. I don't know how it was done but the RPM needle does not move at all when I am idling. I didn't do the Vishnu reset so I assume that over the next few days the insanity should increase some more! ![]() I can't say enough about the guys at Rocket Rally. If you are in Canada and are looking for a reflash check them out! I totally love my car again!!!

Glad you liked it...too bad I don't drive a WRX else I'd be up there all the time. Jamie IS a great guy, both to deal with on a business level and on a personal level.

Yep - I'll "third" that - Had some minor dealing with Jamie at RR through Tibor Apro and their service and turnaround are unbelievable ... both great vendors

wrxer12, yes we can tune for 94, and usually do. Chev-94 is our fuel of choice but we do NOT recommend it if it is ethanol blended. In edmonton they don't have non-blended 94 so we were asked to tune for 91 which is the highest non-blended octane. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me sales@rocketrally.com
Those above, thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. |

any chance you'll be making a trip to Alberta anytime soon, Tora? I'm going to have to settle for a Injen CAI for my WRX swap, since I'm having a hell of a time finding a stock intake for sale. I'd like a custom tune to work around the a/f inconsistencies.
Any other Albertans looking for a custom tune? |

We're re-doing a COBB stage 2.5 tomorrow, I'll let you know the differences.
No trips to Alberta planned in the near future. Ray, no stock boxes available? Have you tried Black Gold? |

Got a n00b question though. One thing I'm worried about will the altitude/climate in B.C. affect the car's drivability/performance when I get back to Calgary? ![]() |

We will tune the car for your colder weather and altitude. We tune our rally cars to run in the mountains, at sea level, in the desert as well as countless customer cars all over North America...so no prob!

I'm preparing my car to be tuned by RR too... was gonna go with AP or utec but Ecutek, even though not as flexible, offers more convenient and power

You won't be disappointed with RR. Seriously.
I know a guy that is basically stock and his WRX runs So Much BETTER. Better throttle response, better boost characteristics and more torque down low. |

Im running cobb stage 2 and if there can be proof that the RR reflash can produce better results with the same mods done then I'd look at switching. Im also looking at upgrading to the Cobb 2.5 as well.

I'd be in for a custom tune if it was done in Calgary. If I'm going to drive 13 hours to get to greater Vancouver, I may as well take a different route and head to PDX with the dyno...

If you guys are really concerned about being dyno-tuned we do regular tuning days down in Washington. If someone really needs a dyno tune we can accomodate. Pat will be down tomorrow or Thursday for a session. |
