Schuey first in Germany F1

Actually his brother Ralf finished first. Of course at the beginning Montoya was first and really building a big gap on everyone. Then he went for a pit stop and there was a refueling problem. Took 30+ seconds before he could take off. That had to be frustrating, putting him I think in about fourth. That's what put Ralf first. His brother Mike never got past third. Of course, JPM's bad pit ended up not mattering as the engine gave out shortly after.

The real excitement started right at the beginning, when Michael's car seemed to be having trouble right at the start, and someone else rear-ended him (blue car, not BMW-Williams). I forget the guy's name, but no one was hurt. Not even the guy whose car the blue car rolled over. Not even any damage to his car. They stopped the race, and reran it, so Mike and the other guy got into their spare cars.

The race was somewhat anti-climactic after Schuey, Coulthard and Montoya's cars quit on them. That race saw 8 cars fall out of contention. The BAR-Honda cars were not overly competitive, but they finished third and fourth. I forget who got second. I'm still learning who's who. I just got Speedvision, and lucky me I caught that race last night just by accident.

That was F-in BS that Mike S. got to hop in his back up car after his screwed up at the start of the race which was red flagged after the first lap and ended up right back in grid where he started for the restart. They should make in to where you should goto the back of the pack like they do in NASCAR. That's only fair, but in nascar that only counts if you crash in quailifing or happy hour. If you crash after the race starts your SOL. Atleast make it to where he goes to the back of the pack.

In nascar you gotta shotgun at least 4 budweisers if you crash before the race.

i thought they switched to light beers to keep the weight of the drivers down...

and yes, it was bull$hit that they restarted the race AFTER they all drove through the mine field.... should have been before they drove through the wreckage or not at all!

I guess they figured that with a 4.2 mile track that it may have been possible to clean up before the cars made a circut of the track.

But at least Burti and Shumie got a chance to try again. Ironically, it looks like a similar failure happened to shumie immediately after Burti went off at the same place he did at the start.... go figure..

Too bad about JPM's 30 second stop too. He should have won the race.

I love the comments from the Speedvisions guys:

"Red flag the German grand prix when Micheal Schumacher crashes out at start of race. Who would have expected that?"

"German grand prix, Montoya looking like he's winning....lets delay his pitstop so Ralf can win"

Or something to that effect.
