STi Cluster question...
ok, i have tried several searches, all of which turned up nothing. quickie question...when putting an STi cluster in a WRX, i noticed that the STi goes to 160 and WRX goes to 140. Does the STi cluster register the speed the same? ie...it actually displays the speed, not just a stepper motor showing 50% of the max speed?
so, as simply stated as can be...if the STi cluster shows me doin 80 (which is 50% of the speedo, roughly) am i ACTUALLY doing 80 or am i doin the 70 the WRX cluster would normally show? does this make sense?

It will read correctly. The signal sent to the cluster is a number of pulses per revolution of the axles, not a '50% of max' kind of thing. The cluster electronics themselves deal with the coversion of pulses per second to speed.
So, installing a STi cluster on a WRX will result in 80 MPH actually being 80 MPH (+/- the usual error due to tire size, etc), regardless of max speeds on the gauge. |

Heh, tire pressure, tire tread, clutch wear, road condition are all easily enough to make a 5MPH difference.
