Default Do Forester XT seats fit a WRX?

I'm looking at buying a 2003 WRX, but I would want to put in Forester XT seats. (I hate the WRX seats)

Is it Possible? Is it hard? Who could do it, Subaru Calgary says they wouldn't even try, would someone like Allmakes do this?

What they really said was "...Regarding the WRX and the seats from a Forester XT, I spoke to the head of the parts department and you cannot buy a seat but you can buy the many components that make up a seat. We have no idea if a Forester seat would fit in a WRX and would never attempt that conversion."

M do you have some kind of relationship with Rally Subaru?

Another reason why Screwbaru dealerships down here sucks! From what I've read, it seems Rally Subaru will work on any cars, modded or not.

Why not get some Recaros? If you can find a vendor that sells the seat rails you could do it in your garage with a ratchet set.

Well First off I wanted Side air bags and heated seats, otherwise I could just put some Legacy GT seats or older Impreza seats in. Second I want a larger more comfortable seat, now while Recaro does make many different kinds of seats, the Ergo ones are really expensive and again don't have the side airbags or heater elements. Do they? I was looking at the Orthoped Recaro, but they are 2 grand US each.

I wonder if the 05 Legacy Seats would fit?

STi seats will fit for sure, they have heaters (canadian models) and side air bags. Comfort? that depends on your ass

Markus on this board has an STi, he is (i'm guessing here) about that size. Maybe he could chime in and tell us how the seats fit

Edit: I'm now pretty sure Mark is a tad smaller but I've never been good at guessing size

I'm 6' and my scale lies and says I am ~240lbs....I find the fit of the STi seats to be much better for support than the '02 WRX seats I sat in previously for 2 years. The seats are good for long road trips too (1,600km in ~13 hours w/ no back problems whatsoever) If I could justify it, Recaros of some nature would be a nice upgrade, but until then.....the STi seats suit me fine! Hope this helps out.

They look wider than the OEM seats. But take a look at the shipping to Canada $250US I always have a hard time swallowing some of these handeling fees

I just had a phone call from Subaru Calgary. The parts guy just said it is Impossible to switch seats in a WRX.

Impossible? hmm I think I've been asking the wrong people.

I guess I'm more "weeble-ish"

STi seats are snug for me. For most they are not.

05 wrx? I heard they're less supportive than 02+

My dealership wouldn't even put on a TBE. "93L? TBE? Get out of my shop"

Those seats look alot like the JDM seats. Maybe the european WRX's got that patten as well. If they are the same as the JDM seats then they are smaller than our seats.

The picture indeed looks like the JDM ones. In know the Spec C has black seats with a crotch bolster (?).

For me the 03 seats are a tighter fit and the foam is less dense than on the STi (i'm 5'10" 178)

I guess i might just have to find someone with a 99 - 02 RS who wants to swap seats, if I decide to buy a WRX.

I'm 50 - 50 right now for buying the WRX I'm looking at or possibly I may buy a SVX.

This is going to sound like a fan boy of dealerships but,

Changing out the seats fitted with an approved side air bag with another set even from the same maker from a different model opens the dealership up for liability claims if that car gets involved in a serious accident. If I owned the dealership I would not do it either. Maybe what seems easy for us could be very expensive for the dealer.

As for the parts guy at SOC, nice enough gentleman that is in alittle over his head at times.

If you are really 6'5" and 250, you should just buy the FXT. It's faster than a WRX and much more room for your size, especially headroom. I'm shorter than you but close in weight. I tried the WRX and STI and didn't much care for them, they felt too tight, especially with my winter parka on. But the FXT was quite comfy, though actually more headroom than I wanted.

All FXT in Canada have sun/moonrooofs. That really kills the headroom, and the way it lines up, as apposed to the VDC Outbacks, I just hit my head on the roof everytime.

I havn't sat in a SVX yet, even though I know absolutely everything about the car, but I would have to see how the sunroof lines up with the seating position. I almost bought one a couple years back just before I was laidoff. That prevented me from getting it back then. Oddly enough it ended up costing someone her life as the guy who did buy it got drunk and ended up killing his passenger when he flipped it on an overpass and wrapped it around a telephone post. The other three people including the moron driving it survived.

I'm still not sure what that message is supposed to mean. It makes me wonder as the skid marks are still on the concrete blocks on the cloverleaf, next to the memorial.

A SVX and that Limo I have my eye on would balance out my total car needs and wants. AWD Sports car and a 4-7 passenger cruiser when I need to haul people and stuff around. The biggest advantage would be owning everything outright as SVX, even though overpriced in Canada, are still in the outright purchase range as is that super rare little limo. And they both are instant collectors items. One more so than the other.

A VDC or WRX would be my only car on the otherhand, as they would manage to compromise the function of the other two, yet somehow wouldn't quite do everything.
