Default I wanna go turbo

Hey everyone, i am interested in getting a turbo for my 99rs and i was wondering if its better to add a turbo or do an engine swap, and wonder if anyone has info on who in the seattle area could do it, and how much it would cost. Thanks

Probably should search the forums (NASIOC TECHNICAL). So much info there you will probably get a headache trying to read it all. Pros and cons for both though....

Do a swap.

The WRX block is stronger, and if you pay someone to install the Turbo kit, the price is about the same.

Worldone Performance could do it.

Also Pacific Import Auto in Tacoma can do it. Although there's a waiting list and you'll be behind me. I have parts but they won't be able to help me until August or so. They quoted me $2500 for the install.

Seen their work, and Mike is excellent! Would reccomend their place above all others. Very customer friendly. Best local shop I've delt with.

It really depends on what you are looking for. If you want a system you can learn a lot from and you like to tinker do a aftermarket turbo kit with engine management. If you want to drive and forget then go with a swap.

My car is currently down at Pacific. Mike, Steve, and all those guys are great. You should stop by their shop or give them a call.

Well, if you spent the same amount of money for each, you would probably get more out of the 2.5..for a while. Honestly you really need to spend a lot of time reading the conversions forum among others.. There are so many options you can do its ridiculous. Threads upon threads have been dedicated to people’s ideas on this. That’s what I did, and after becoming at least familiar with the subject of the EJ series, I made what I consider an informed decision for what I want. Just asking general questions like the above will net you a bunch of answers, some helpful, some not, but only you know what will work best for you. Your questions have asked been already, please search, read a TON (all the FAQ's), and then talk to Mike at PAI, and perhaps a couple other shops if you like.. that will give you a nice base of what you want, and how to go about it. READ READ READ!

Rallitek also has done a lot of swaps and has competitive prices. Their RSTi is pretty amazing.

See you soon,

Turbo, Fuel Pump, inlet pipe, ceramic coating etc... 1100
500 for labor thus far.

They still have to do wiring. I'm waiting a bunch more goodies.
