My signals make my headlights flicker!
Hey all -
I've got a 2000 RS and a few weeks ago I noticed a small annoyance that my headlights would flicker (similar to if I flashed my high-beams, except they flickered off and not brighter) for an instant about 40% of the time I would use a turn signal. As time went on, it started becoming more prominent so I checked under the dash because I installed a GTechPro RR over Christmas and I wiretapped the unit into the switced +12V line by the foglight switch (like was done in this Ravensblade mod). There were no bare wires shorting together, and I suspect that if my GTech was loading down the lighting circuit I would have seen this problem more recently after the install. Any ideas? I'm really scratching my head here. Last night my headlights turned completely off when I put on my left signal!!! Could my battery be losing ability to source the necessary charge? I don't remember the current draw of the GTechPro, I'll snag it when I get home. The battery is an OEM replacement and it's 2 years old. Thanks in advance guys!

I would check the wiring feeding the turn signal switch. There may be a break which only shows when the switch is moved.
The connection that you made may have severed the wires. Othetr than that, it's a case of following the circuit with a tester and a pin. John |

Might not hurt to check your grounds also.

Not sure if the wire you tapped on to is involved or not, but if you used the crimp-on blade style tap, they can be problematical. They're convenient, but depending on the wire/tap sizing match-up, they can create problems in a number of ways.

Could also be a bad relay although I believe they are individual per each side.

I had a similar problem on my 02 RS, sometimes the headlights would flick off momentarily when using the signals. At the time I had the DRLs unplugged at the resistor under the hood, but not under the dash. So I unplugged the DRL controller under the dash and the problem went away. Maybe give that a shot?

Just another quick observation, since the dimmer switch is integrated could it be possible that its the culprit?
