Is anyone going to this?
http://www.revscene.net/forums/showt...75#post3520675 I'll be heading out, but I was hoping some of the faster cars like Happy Days and JikJak would be out to show up the viper and nitroused Vette that will be representing. ![]() Event: 1/8 Mile Drags presented by Revscene.net & Resist the Race Program Date: May 21st, 2005 from noon to 8pm Location: Boundary Bay Those of you that missed out last time missed a lot of fun! We have lots of different cars, from imports, to domestics! You may be saying, 1/8 mile is so short... it may be shorter than what ur use to at the 1/4 mile, but definitely not any less fun! You will top out at max 120km/h (so 3rd gear for most of us) However, because the turn around is so fast, you will get a good dozen runs if not more. You cant do that at 1/4 mile drag events. The first trial event had 40 cars, and went from 5:30 to 7:30. We managed to squeeze easily a dozen runs! To offset the amount of insurance and track rental here are the prices. Car + 1 driver = $25 for the whole 8hrs each additional driver = $5 spectators = $5 (Yes, omg, spectators!) As more of these events happen, the cost will go down. Each racer and volunteer will get a race credit, non transferrable. Save up enough race credits and u get in for an event FREE. Best part of all, PASSENGERS ALLOWED!!! Requirements: - a running car - no major fluid leaks - no helmets (yay!) Those of you that have turbos have an area off to the side to cool down after ur few runs.... There will be food and refreshments at the location. And with ur hand stamped, there is in&out privileges... lets make this event a good one so we can have these more often. If u want spects, 0-60 times, time slips, then go to mission =) This event is meant to be purely fun so u can finally race ur friends... legally Car Club VS Car Club... Shop VS Shop... Direction to Boundary Bay http://www.jibc.bc.ca/maps/delta.htm

impulse, see you there mang.
Ken, they're trying to use the southern strip, but the north strip may be the only one. FYI, the launch area isn't rough, it's the west side of the strip, aka the slow down that gets a bit rough. Happy Days, man, this gives us the opportunity to AWD launch and not have to worry about the high HP cars to catch us in the end. Plus, MRP sucks bag. You have to stay in your class, and as you know, there isn't a lot of fun in racing 15 second civics. |

Yeah i hope everyone had fun..
Just kinda annoys me that people will pay $25 for 1/8th mile but not go for the real deal for the same price. And the strip doesn't have cracks with weed growing out of it. |

MRP can't compare to what we had yesterday.
I got a total of 10 runs in 4 hours, winning 9 of them flat out. I killed V8 trucks, I killed a Sil-80, I killed a few mustangs, and almost took on the Viper, until he screwed up his launch, and went home in embarassment. Try to do that at MRP. In fact, try to have fun at MRP after driving for 1.5 hours to get there, dealing with the ******** at the gate, the dickheads doing tech, then there's the redneck crowd who despise imports. Want to race a V8? You better be driving a V8. What about heatsoak after staging for half an hour? What if you screw up a launch, and need to wait another hour before you run again? I've been going to MRP for 20 years as a fan, and 13 years as a driver. This event at BB was heads and tails above MRP for the fun factor. While a timeslip is nice for some, I'd rather leave saying "man, I killed so many mustangs it's not even funny". Beside's, in todays fast and furious scene, unless you have an 11 second timeslip, there's no respect. Where respect comes in is when you see a supercharged S2000 OWN a new C5 vette. That was exciting. back to it, it was great to see JikJak comet, and yeha there. JikJak beat the cars that most of us wouldn't waste our time with, like the Mustang Cobras that run 12's, and the faster than hell Corvettes. He made the Subaru guys proud. The best race though was hypa vs Yeha. Stage 2 UTEC wagon vs stage 1 COBB sedan. the wagon won. ![]() Last edited by steve; 05-22-2005 at 11:16 AM. |

Sorry Yenners, I thought you said "Yeha".
Good to meet you, and watch your launches get better and better. JikJak, hopefully the next one will be soon. I know the guys will be looking for sponsors on tuesday, as the media coverage made it a hot event. Maybe by next time I'll have enough turbo to take you on. ![]() |
