Default Turbo options for the IC challenged…

I’m in the market for a turbo upgrade and need some advice with my rather unique setup. I run an EJ20 swap in my Legacy and have limitations with IC options and sizes available to me. Presently, and without major fabrication, an STI TMIC is the largest intercooler I can support and fit under my hood. The fabrication necessary to fit a FMIC is excessive and I would like to stay away from that route.

That said, I’m trying to determine the largest turbo possible which can be ran with an STI TMIC. Obviously VF22/34/39 is an option but I would like to go a bit larger and am looking strongly at an 18G. My obstacle of course is IC, air-flow, and general cooling capabilities of my setup. I’m also considering off-setting the smaller IC with a water injection system.

Anybody with advice or general comments please respond, thanks…

Why don't you talk to Jerry at Deadbolt. I'm sure he'd be happy to set you up with something. They have all the mitsu turbos and can do a port and polish on them to flow more.
