what grommet to put boost gauge line through?
I know most people put it through the one behind the intercooler, but i really don't feel like having to take it off as I hear its a pain to put back on. I have my stereo going through the grommet above the clutch. Do you think its ok to put the line through there if i will be placeing the gauge by the bottom of the a-pillar? Or should i just bite the bullet and take of the damn intercooler...

It's not that bad. You do not need to remove the intercooler to get to this plug. Just remove the plug and put a hole in it with a hole punch or sharp x-acto knife. Do not split the grommet as some people do, just put a hole in it. This will make it much easier to re-install.

well, what kind of boost gauge are you installing...manual or electric?
i wouldn't share a grommet if you're running a manual gauge, you don't want to open up that grommet too much, could be a pain to seal. but if it's an electric, running the meter wire should be cool with the power cables. taking off the intercooler is cake anyway. it should take you no more than 5 minutes to remove and install, maybe 10 if you have a strut bar in the way. |

Hey, I have a wrx and I was easily able to get to the grommet. I read the instructions about removing the intercooler also but was less than thrilled to do that. There is a grommet on the right of the intercooler that goes to the footwell on the drivers side, right above the acclerator pedal.

When you pull the grommet to cut the hole don't forget to make one in the interior insulation.
I also did mine without removing the intercooler. A little tight, but it can be done. The worst part was putting the thing back in with boost gage line, EGT Wire, Oil Pressure Wire and Oil Temp Wire. |
