Default 91 legacy turbo down pipe

I need to know if the down pipe from a wrx will fit the turbo from a 92 EJ22T.
Also, will wrx brakes fit my legacy?

Yes, the downpipe will fit, but be aware that sometimes small modifications will have to be made. Yes, wrx brakes will fit. But only the fronts on the WRX will be an upgrade as the Legacy turbo rears are better.

NO, the Legacy turbo downpipe is not a direct replacement. It is about 3" shorter than the WRX. You will need custom mid-pipe work done to bolt it up. It will bolt to the turbo and the mounting points, but length is an issue.

And the WRX calipers are not a direct bolt on either. You need the brackets as well as the Legacy Turbo brackets are different. This is the same front and rear. From your signature, it appears that your car is not a factory turbo, and as such, the WRX rears are a significant upgrade...

Legacy

so you are saying that the legacy turbo down pipe is 3" shorter than the wrx or did i missunderstand what you said? So then I would have to extend the midpipe to match it.

And the car is not a legacy turbo, I am simply converting it to one using many different parts that I have from a turbo legacy. I have everything from the headers to the flange of the origional down pipe. Just debating whether i should make my own or find a stock wrx down pipe and fit that.

If you have a Legacy Turbo mid-pipe it will mate right up. For that matter, your non-turbo midpipe will mate to the downpipe as well, but is only about 2" diameter. For long term plans it may be worth your while to spend a little extra money now, and do this:
http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtop...637&highlight=

Then when it comes time to upgrade your downpipe, any WRX aftermarket unit will bolt in. The greatest gains to be had with an exhaust are the parts closest to the turbo.

I know a guy here in CO, that runs something really similar to my design on his WRX and runs 12's at 5000ft. People told him there was no way he would hit those numbers without a full straight through 3" exhaust. But he got a really good down pipe, cut his stock WRX pipe and tapered the piping like I did and retains the stock muffler, just like I did on my Leggy Turbo. The moral of the story is don't believe everything you read on the interet...

ok matt thank you for your help on the down pipe issue. I just found a pair of 11" 1991 leg turbo brakes for up front. Think these will work with the stock braket or will i still need to find something else to help out in that area?

You will need the bracket to push out the caliper to clear the larger discs. You will also need 15" wheels...

My apologies- I did not notice you DID NOT have a legacy turbo already.
Matt is correct that the downpipes will fit, but then you have to add a longer mid-pipe.
And both turbo legacy front/rears and WRX front/rears are better than what you have.

But, if you go wrx fronts you will have to go to 16 inch wheels.
the turbo brake setup only requires 15 inch wheels.

I am curious as to how you will be doing a diverter/blowoff valve
and am also curious what EM changes you will have as well as injectors.

I currently have 17" wheels so i could clear the bigger brakes. I have a greddy Emanage piggyback computer that i will be wiring. I have the Turbo ECM but i was told that i would need a new harness in order to use it so it is for sale. As for the BOV it is mounted to a stock '04 WRX intercooler and it is made by OBX. It vents to the atmosphere
