Default XS Engineering 500 hp turbo (same as AVO450)

For sale:

XS Engineering 500 hp turbo, subaru bolt on.

You should know what this is, basicly the same as a AVO450, but with a polished compressor housing (it was made by AVO). Garrett GT30r-10 center section, 44 lb/min compressor wheel. Big, big AVO turbine housing for making big power. I made 350 whp on a dyno dynamics with peak torque at 4000 rpm, and trapped 114 mph with this turbo on my sti. Had it on the car a bit over a year and about 10k miles or so. Was working fine when took it off. But......

The turbo has a cracked turbine housing, a famillar problem with the older style housing on these. It's a hairline crack going up from the wastegate. I have talked to Steve Coates from AVO and he will supply a new, redesigned replacement housing for the turbo for roughly $485 shipped.....not cheap, but it's the best bolt on turbine housing available for subarus, and you can't get one any other way...these turbos sell for over $2000 now. You buy the turbo, Steve will sell you the housing, and you get a turbo that is good to go. I wiil put you in contact with Steve and he can confirm everything is legit.

These turbos normally sell used (intact) for $1000-$1500, so make me a reasonable offer, factoring the cost of the housing.

Thanks,

Kevin

I'm in Boston, MA. I have pictures of the turbo and can take more if needed. I also have a bunch of emails from Steve at AVO discussing a replacement housing, and a document quoting a price.

Here's the answers to some questions that were asked via PM:

Hey,

1. Yes, oil and water.
2. Going back to stock to sell the car.
3. On a 2.5L sti, I ran about 21 psi peak at ~4000 rpm, tapering to 16-17 psi at redline at 7700 rpm. 16-17 psi doesn't sound like much, but it's a ton of air at 7700 RPM on a 2.5L. That is the limit of the turbo, we reached them for sure. On a 2.0, you could run about 29-30 psi peak tapering to about 23-25 psi at redline, depending on rpm. It's good for about 420-450 crank hp on high octane pump gas and close to 500 hp on leaded race gas.

It's a perfect match to that motor as a midrange turbo, I'd say it would behave pretty similarly to a stage 4 wrx as far as lag and boost threshold, but with way more power. You'll have solid power from ~4000 rpm all the way to 8000 rpm+.

I've been looking at a GT30R for my Axis stg 3 w/JDM ver8 heads. Looking for a god mid range turbo.

Thanks, Mitch

Bump for a nice turbo at a great price (if you're willing to do the leg work). I have one and swear by it

Bump!

Alternatively, I could source the housing myself, get it checked by a shop, and then sell the turbo.
