Default Need to move 20,000 pounds of weights from Detroit to Indy

Yeah, I said 20,000 pounds. I'm helping a friend open up a private workout facility.

Uhaul says max load in the mid 6000 pound range. I wonder if two of them, holding 20,000 pounds each would make it four or five hours south? We're headed south, so it's all downhill, right?

Anyone else have a bright idea? anyone drive a rig?

How about 20 of you all pull a trailer with 2,000 pounds a piece.

Wood pallets hold like over 2000lbs, right? I'd try to get ahold of a few(shouldn't be hard...usually some junkyards have a few beat up ones they'd get rid of) and pack everything on those first. When the driver shows up, have a small pallet jack or forklift(rental isn't that much...only about $200 around here for a full day). Load them up to the truck and let him go. Then, have a pallet jack or forklift rented at the destination to get them off the truck quickly. If you can load and unload the whole thing quickly, and make sure this will be a one day job, you can save a lot of cash. Plus...shipping them on a pallet makes it safer in transit. If you don't have to pay for someone to do the loading/unloading, it'll probably cost you a lot less than you think.

Give me a call.
I know people who know people who have semis and move stuff for a living.

Edit: I just called him, and they are gone for the day. I'll have to wait until Monday to try again.

Find a crack head. Tell them you will give them a penny per pound they carry and all the free crack they need.

It might just be cheaper then having someone else haul it.
