Default GB- Amerex Halotron "clean agent" Fire Extinguisher group buy. From SafeDrives.com

CLOSED 8/16 The Amerex GB was a huge success! Thank you NASIOC Members from safedrives.com!
We delivered over 30 GB Amerex Halotron Fire Extinguishers during the course of our GB. That's no small feet since each Halotron FE costs at least $96.00. They are the best fire extinguishers money can buy though. =)
This GB has allowed Safe Drives LLC and www.safedrives.com to do a rather large "Buy In" with Amerex allowing us to continue to offer great GB pricing on Amerex products but without the GB waiting.
Please see the great auto fire safety products that we offer and as always, please drive safe! =)
http://www.safedrives.com/categories.asp?cat=61

UPDATE 8/1

Red units from both GB#1 and GB#2 have all come in and actually shipped out Thursday 7/28. I expect that the chrome ones will be in this week and should ship out by Friday 8/5.

Thanks to all involved for making this a great and successful GB!!!

Edit: Added Install pics below. GC Impreza shown.

Amerex Halotron "clean agent" Fire Extinguishers are the highest quality fire extinguishers available anywhere. Don't take any chances on a lesser quality brand.

Technical details:
HALOTRON I is a "Clean Agent" HydroChloroFluoroCarbon discharged as a rapidly evaporating liquid which leaves no residue. It effectively extinguishes Class A and B fires by cooling and smothering and it will not conduct electricity back to the operator. Halotron is pressurized with Argon gas and is an EPA and FAA approved HCFC blend B agent approved for use on Class A, B and C fires. It has a low Atmospheric Lifetime (3 to 11 years).
Halotron is intended for use in areas formerly protected by Halon 1211 hand portable extinguishers such as computer rooms, telecommunications facilities, clean rooms, data storage areas, offices (for protection of sensitive electronic equipment), boats and vehicles.

Included mount:
Each Amerex Halotron "clean agent" Fire Extinguisher sold through this GB includes a USDOT and US coast guard approved mount. The smaller 1.4# unit includes a single strap mount while the two larger units include a two strap mount.

Finish:
The Amerex Halotron "clean agent" Fire Extinguishers in this GB are available with a very nice red paint finish or in a nice chrome finish.

Single strap shown but actually comes with the dual strap mount shown below.

FREE Shipping offer:
All prices shown below include standard ground shipping to the lower 48. Shipping for all other areas will need a custom shippipng quote, please call us toll free at 877-739-1713.
Prices:
1.4# Red $95.99
1.4# Chrome $103.99
Buy Here

2.5# Red $100.99
2.5# Chrome $122.99
Buy Here

5# Red $165.99
5# Chrome $190.99
Buy Here

Delivery:
Amerex is quoteing 4-6 weeks for delivery to us on the chrome units while the red are 3-4 weeks out. This is all once we have placed the order. We'll need 20 paid units to secure this pricing and to place the order. 20 units should be easy since we have this GB up on three major forums. Once we acheive the 20 unit goal we will place the order. We will however keep the GB going as long as orders continue to come in at a fair pace. All units will be shipped to our customers asap.
For those that want a nice Amerex Fire Extinguisher but don't want the big money price you can get the Dry Chemical unit for just $31.99 here

We mount the 2.5s in all of our cars just in front of the drivers seat. The 2.5 is L- 15" x h- 3.5" x w- 3.5". Obviously the 1.4 is going to be smaller and the 5 is bigger.

I try to steer folks towards the 2.5 pounder ones for your average street car. Trucks and SUVs should get the 5 pounders though. The 1.4? Eh... better than nothing at all!

I do hope this helps.

I totally agree with sunnynw on everything said above.

We mount the Fire Extinguisher right in front of the drivers seat and hard mount it to the floor with positive fasteners. This is what we at Safe Drives LLC recommend. It's out of the way, in most vehicles it does not inhibit ingress and egress and easy access if you need to use it in a fire.

We have some good photos here somewhere I need to put up on this thread...

GB UPDATE: we have 7 paid orders on the GB at this time. Thanks to those who have already gotten in on this great deal!

TEN! Yes we have ten paid orders. Folks this is a great deal on a quality FE that you could take with you from car to car.

Bump for a great auto safety item.

Maybe a silly question, but why in front of the driver's seat? I would have a lot easier time leaning over to grab it from in front of the passenger seat in my mind. Plus it would definately be out of the way from taking up space from the driver's perspective.

Easy to get to when you need it. Mounted at this place it's out of the way since you don't use that part of the car for anything else. Why not?

It does not impeed ingress / egress at all. I've had one mounted in my car here for over two years.

This is also where we mount the FEs in the rally car.

Well most race sanctioning bodies recommend that you have the FE within arms reach from the drivers' seat. I think that's a good rule of thumb. Many people are not comfortable with this in a street car and will trunk mount the FE.

To everyone I like to point out that in a fire, every second counts. You should think about this fact when installing your FE.

1. The 1.4 is the one shown in the photo? If not, the 1.4 is significantly smaller?
I need something small.

2. How long would the 2nd Group buy take to ship out the units?

Hello!

1. The photos in this thread are of the 2.5lb units. The dimentions of the 1.4lb unit are H = 10" x W = 3.5" with a diameter of almost 3".

2. Once GB#2 closes; as stated in the first post, "Amerex is quoteing 4-6 weeks for delivery to us on the chrome units while the red are 3-4 weeks out. This is all once we have placed the order."
