Default engine sluggish!!!

Here's the deal.. Just got done with the wiring.. anywho, started it up.. it started and idles great (maybe a little rough, but could be the engine mounts adding to it) but under throttle, its very sluggish, slow to react. No vacuum or exhaust leaks have been found, heard or anything.. I'm thinking this is a sensor problem, possibly the front O2 sensor that is prone to getting beat up during engine installation, which i'm probably guilty of. Won't throw a check engine light till you rev on it a bit for a while. So its not an immediate emergency to the computer, (like something unplugged). Hence why i think it could be an oygen sensor or something like that.. Just any experience would be appreciated.

So, have any of you seen the same thing? Its a 01 rs with a 04 usdm wrx swap.

I’d say the fact that it starts and will run without any immediate DTC’s is a good sign at this point of your project. I would continue putting everything back together to the point where you can run the engine longer, then perform another test to see if you can produce any DTC’s… Also rev up all the way through the RPM to ensure you’re getting above the 4k (limp-mode) mark.

Good Luck

PS: Where’s the pics?

i can get above 4k rpms.. i'm getting a P1446... which obviously won't make it run like poop.. Hmm. maybe i will run it a bit longer, see if anything else pops up, and i'll check around for vacuum leaks...

Did you check that all coils/injectors are firing ? As well did you change/check the timing belt ?

it runs and idles ok.. I haven't checked the timing belt yet.. engine was removed from a known working vehicle, covers never even been removed..

I do have an exhaust leak, on the manifold, before the uppipe. its not throwing any codes other than that 1446 code every now and then. But there is definetely something not quite right. Guess i'll go check the timing..

timing belt checked and good.. All marks lined up properly.

how adversely does an exhaust leak affect the wrx engine as far as how it runs?
