What would be nice is if the you ran inside another prompt, similar to using "nslookup" in Windows to dig up DNS records. You launch the command with the connection parameters, then it can persist the connection while accepting further commands to read, write, compare, etc. This would assure that you stay connected to the "OS" running in volatile RAM and not have your connection reset when the executable fails and kills the command prompt (like the GUI control).

The app is good, and what it can do is awesome. But there are risks with everything. The replacement ECU was $150 + shipping, and I didn't have too much heartburn with that. I hope to work with the project some more to help out others in the future, and I might get another ECU to play with later on.

I think he is referring to the VAG-COM cable.

That is, in effect how things work. You can run the ecuflash.exe app multiple times without turning the car off and on again. It is turning the car off and on that drops you out of the kernel (which is the equivalent to the "prompt" you mention).

a .csv is the type of file it saves when you do the logging. its just a comma separated values (hence, csv) file. It can be read in excel or openoffice.

Has anyone been able to find out the proper address for the '04 ecu (specifically AH791) regarding the IAM?

I recall somebody saying that they had a sniffer program to figure out specific addresses.

You need to modify a registry setting to get IAM logging to work. Details are on the Tari forum.

When logging (use the Defrost switch to trigger logging), the DL1 will put timestamped .csv files in the Program Files/Tari Logger/DL1 directory. You can find them in there and open them with either the DL1 or Excel.

Quick Q. Is this software still uncompatible with the 04-05 STi's?

Software works fine on 04 STIs. Can't tell you anything about 05 because I just haven't logged one, but it works just fine on 04's. Can't see why it would be a problem on 05's.

Did you by chance try the GUI and see if it breaks the connection when it collapses the command prompt after execution? Basically, try a backup of the ECU, then immediately run the compare mode.

The address hasn't been found yet for IAM, but this is the thread to keep a watch on:

Jugger (who I had replied to) has an 03 WRX and the IAM has been identified for it. I should know, I've logged IAM on my 03.

Yeah, I dug up the link and saw your name already there, but posted it for others to go directly there if and when a search turns this up.

This software rocks. Calvin just helped me out with an RPM problem I was having, and now I can log my RPM and Injector duty cycles. Also, the Tactrix cable is working out very well. Used AP cable for cheap anyone?

I've been waiting to get the RPM data working so I could check on my IDCs -- I have been running alky injection for the last 2,300 miles, and wanted to see how low there were. Well... 72.x% is my peak IDC in a 2nd gear WOT pull (VF-34 and support mods, aquamist 2d).

Again, hats off to the the folks behind Tari, Tactrix, OpenEcu, etc. Cheers,
scooter

thanks for your help

are you saying i need to manually hit the defrost switch located on my dash board to initiate logging?

Iv hit both of the defogger check boxes in the program but nothing

(maybe im going about this all wrong but) when im in the log window There is a *.* button (that I assume is looking for a file to log to) so when I hit the *.* button it is asking for a csv file (I assume to log and store the data to) but I don’t have one….where do i find one?

The log window is for viewing .csv files you already made. You log from the view window and it auto generates log file names from the date/time.
