Bevis, as a member of OpenECU, I assumed that was the point of his application.

I'll look into the OpenECU logger.

Thanks

Features

Features currently available:
- view saved log files
- view live data

So yeah..... logging isn't too hard to enable in any application. It's like the first thing you learn when coding. If someone could write an application like this, they could have easily included logging like they advertised.

TPIWWL (This Program is Worthless without Logging)
Go back and read it again. You can view any saved csv file that you have captured from a different source. In the future you will be able to capture logs to csv.

Code:
Features in future releases:
- extra analogue parameters
- digital parameters
- ecu type detection
- view diagnostic trouble codes
- logging to .csv file
- logging triggers (full throttle, defogger switch, etc)
- alarms
- data conversions (lambda to AFR, C to F, injector ms to duty %, etc)
- approximate fuel consumption
- data logging templates
- speed optimization
- seperate data grids for logged data and live data

will that work as an alternative cable? i currently don't have a laptop with USB capability so there is no point in buying the cable from tactrix.com. will that ebay cable work to just read from the ECU? i know i won't be able to flash the ECU with that.

hi,

next release is finished and i'm doing some final testing before releasing it to you all. i'm still not happy with the speed of the interface and i've decided to rewrite the UI in a faster language. i have been using VB6 as the UI development language just because it mean quick development. the communications is all within a C++ dll.

this means no new features after this release until i get the speed sorted out.

it should be up for download by friday.

You'll need to use VirtualPC to run .exe files on your Mac.

I emailed asking if there is any plan to make an OS X or Java (.jar) version that will run cross-platorm. I'm looking forward to it if it's in the works.

What kind of car?
How about a 2002 RS?
or a 1998 Volvo
or a 1999 Subaru Legacy sedan?

Can these all use the WRX cable, or a Cobb AP cable for that matter?

new version (1.0.39) is up for download. check website for full list of new features. most importantly it now has support for generating your own log files.

i have noticed some problems with the user-interface either being slow or freezing, because of this i am rewriting it in another programming language. if you experience the same problems please email me.

I installed the latest version but can't get it to log. Live data reads fine. I have the defogger option selected. I installed pci.dll in the same directory as the main software. Is this right? I also get some error message about invalid object names or something when shutting down after trying to log.

now I have another reason to wait by the mailbox for my accessport!

I'm new to all this ECU stuff, but just the fact that somebody would put all the time in to develop, test, and code something and then just give it away to the community is just hella-cool!

Download both "upgrade" files from the website and run them. Take the defaults for the install directories. It should try to install pci.dll in "c:\windows\system32" and the new dl1.exe file in your program directory (probably something like "c:\program files\tari racing software\dl1").

In both cases, if you had the previous version (1.0.33) installed, the installers should ask you about replacing the files. Choose "yes" both times.

I figured it out - you have to select "defogger switch" under the digital logging items (Live tuning tab) so that the program can know if you are pressing the defogger to log. After that it started writing to files just fine.

I did check this, but it doesn't log. How did you install the pci.exe update? I installed it to the dr1 directory. Am I supposed to install this to windows/system32 instead?

Execute the two updates - they are self-extracting RAR archives. Let them install in the default directories and it should work.

Hi Calvin,
Thanks for the update.
You may want to try recompiling your current stuff with the Visual Basic Express beta 2 stuff. It's a free download, so couldn't hurt. I'm not really a VB guy, so I don't know if there is updated runtime stuff or not.. I think I recall seeing it for msvcr*, so it might be better.
I'd go with c#, but I'm guessing you probably don't want to impose the requirement of the CLR

Thanks again!
